I think Chloe likes her crate also...even when I am home working sometimes, she will just go in there and sleep!!! I would be like...."Chloe!! Mommy is here!! Come here and stay with mommy please! :p"
When I am about to leave in the morning, Chloe will also go into her crate without I ask her to!

Well as per Hubby's request to allow Autumn to be free when we are out, I gave it a try. I had to go out for about 20 minutes so I put up the baby gate and left her free in my room ( I figured I would try baby steps - one area at a time) well when I came back I found Autumn sitting in front of the gate w/the plug in part to our electric Blanket. :eek: It was not plugged in (I keep it under the bed when we dont need it.) She chewed the pronge part right off. Thankfully it was the one for my hubby's side.:) When he came home I showed him and he agreed maybe she would be better spending her alone time in her crate!:aimeeyork

Just try to move things out of the way, the electric blanket shouldn't of been in her reach. She will never learn how to behave in the house when you are gone if you don't give her the chance to succeed. If you make sure that there is nothing for her to destroy, she will get out of the habit of looking for things.

OKay my only question with this ...... how do you teach them to not potty in the house when you don't crate them and you leave them out? I have NEVER had a problem with my two destroying anything in the house while I am gone but I do come home to pee-pee on the tile floor if I do not crate them, yet they never potty in the house when i am home and they are out - just if I try to not crate them. How do you correct that if you can not catch them doing it? :confused: :confused:

This is why I crate!

It's much safer to crate them or put them in an xpen, than to let them run..they can get ahold of a refrigerator cord and be electrocuted, not worth it...how old is your baby? Once they're done chewing(around a year or so), if they're housebroken, then they should be able to run..mine were left to run once they were done with the chewing stage..I always had a problem with using a crate also, felt bad for them, but, I do have the xpen with everything they need in it, and I don't have to worry about them chewing on the doors, walls, or wires

Buddy LOVES his crate!!!! He is only put in it at night but occassionally during the day I will find him in it snoozing away!!!!
