Home alone? How old should she be? Ok so by now you know I worry. LOL! I leave GA in a pen while I am at work. I am converting a walk in closet in the hallway into a play area for her. My question is...do you let your dogs just roam the house? How old were they? Don't you worry about them chewing cords or getting into things? |
I wouldn't let mine roam free till they have the potty thing down pat. Then I'd try letting her roam free when you're home on the weekend to see what she gets into. |
Gracie is 15 months. She is potty trained but stays in her "room" when I am at work. On the weekends and when I am home, she has free run. She only gets into paper and shreds it, if she can find it. However, I worry that when I am away, she will get curious and get into other things, like chewing cords and furniture. When she is confined to her "room", I know she is safe and so does she. I have thought about testing the waters, letting her run loose when I go grocery shopping or run errands for an hour or so. However, I would never forgive myself if she got into something and got hurt or worse. It only takes a second. I just don't think its worth the risk. She will stay in her "room" when I am not home. |
I don't let mine roam at all, and doubt I ever will...there are too many things they could get into, and I fear too many small places that they could possibly get stuck and I worry that I wouldn't find them! Milli has just graduated from the x-pen to being able to stay out in our bedroom with Emma during the day. We have a pretty large master bedroom, which is big enough for our king sized bed, end tables, two dressers, plus lots of room to walk, and an 8x10 room off that, where we keep their water, beds, and toys. It's nice and sunny in there, and if they get tired of the light or too hot, they go in the dark bathroom and lay on top of the AC vent, lol! |
Georgia stays in a little (maybe 5X5') area we have gated off for her with her crate, pee pad, toys, and food. She stays in there while we're at work. She stays in the crate if we're only going to be gone for a couple hours, though (and at night), so that we can work on potty training! She's pretty young though, so we haven't even thought of giving her free reign yet! By the way, what's your yorkie's name? |
Home Alone My babes have had full run of the house since they've been housebroken. Before I got a second, Delilah would drag throw rugs around and shred paper, but nothing destructive to her or the house. Attributed to Alexander the Great with PC update, "Every person gets the dog s/he deserves." |
