Pixie's weight as an adult? I know it's a silly question that's been asked by members loads of times before.. But i'm just curious to know roughly what weight Pixie will be fully grown..i'm a little worried she won't make 3lbs..i did want to get her spayed but if she's going to be very tiny i'm not sure i can take the risk...what do you guys think? she's 17 weeks (born 4th june) and was weighed at the vets last friday, she weighed 1lb 8oz. I'm worried she's not putting on enough weight  but she has an amazing apetite! |
She's still pretty young so she should definitely grow more. Sounds like she'll be pretty tiny though. I doubt she'll get much bigger than 3lbs if she makes it there. As long as you have a vet familiar with toy breeds, it should be safe to spay her when she is over 2lbs. |
I'd have her spayed by a vet that is familiar with spaying small dogs to be on the safe side. |
She's going to be an itty bitty one thats for sure. Speak to your vet about it and see what they say, should be safe to spay her once she reaches 2lbs. |
When i picked her up from her breeder she said.. 'you do realise she will be too small to breed from', I said.. 'of course! i plan to get her spayed asap'....well!! she just about told me off! and went on about the risks with a dog that small, now i'm not sure what to do...i want her spayed..i just don't think i'm brave enough to risk it.:( i'm also worried about her teething...what if i have to get teeth pulled! aaarrrggghhh! so much to worry about! |
Bella's vet said over two pounds is not a problem. I would definitely agree with all the posters that mentioned being CERTAIN the vet is comfortable with small breeds. :) |
I talked to my vet yesterday. He reassured me it would be ok. Maggie is 1 lb 13 oz and 5 months old.She eats like a chow hound and seems very healthy but it scares the bajeebers out of me thinking about having it done. She'll probably need some teeth pulled as well. I'm a wreck thinking about it. |
