I am SO sorry you and Max have to go through this! There are folks on here who will have good advice! I know "Drawlins" knows her stuff - and many others. Hang in there. |
OH NO!!! I am sooo very sorry! I don't have any help, but I know there are lots of others on here who have been a wonderful wealth of health information for me in the past....I am sure they will see this and respond soon. Please keep us posted and you and sweet Max will be in our thoughts and prayers! :justahug: |
1 Attachment(s) oh i am sooo sorry to hear this, poor baby and mommy :( boy the only thing i can say( because i havent gone through that ) is when i found out lola had a mast cell tumor at 13 weeks they told me the surg and treatments were alot and the cancer will come back in time. i just couldnt bring my self to put her down as once the treatments were done she wasnt in pain and thought even if she is only with us for a year a year of love from all of us is better then nothing. if i thought for a min that she was in pain now i really dont know what i would do. she is 2 years old now and so far fine but really if the cancer does come back i dont know if i would or could watch her go through that again. it was so pitiful and heart breaking for so long. here is a pic of her after one of her surgeries |
ohh no! My heart goes out to you, I can't even imagine being in your situation. Poor little Max :{ |
I think when the time comes you will have to weigh out the quality of life your pup will have. I know it's really hard to have to put them down, but I'd rather be the one to suffer then see one of my fur kids suffer. |
What did the vet say he has exactly? Did she mention MVD, fibrosis, cirrhosis? Please let us know so that we can help. Many of us with liver compromised dogs were also told that our dogs wouldn't live long...In fact, vets tried to get me to put Miko down when he was a pup, but here he is 3 1/2 yrs later :) and doing exceptionally well!! Keep the faith! I know of another lady whose yorkie has moderate fibrosis and MVD, and her dog is now 5 yrs old!! Please babymax, join the Liver shunt/MVD group that I have told you about. Everyone on there has a LOT of experience with these things, and they can really help you...You will learn so much there and get a lot of very valuable information. Hearing everyone's stories and how they have helped their dogs will give you the strength and courage that you need for Max... |

I'm sorry BabyMax. Please give us the diagnosis so we can try and help and please join the liver shunt group on yahoo. |
I'm so sorry! :( :( I hope you can have a good discussion with your vet about max's diagnosis and if you can get some good info here and on the yahoo group, maybe you can give max good quality of life. Don't get too depressed right now, have a good talk with the vet and let's see what options you have for the future! |
Oh I am just so sorry that your baby is going through this. I can just imagine the fear you must have, and how much you want to make him better. I wish I could help you, but I know nothing about liver disease. Listen to Yorkieluv, she gives excellent advice. Just remember when the going gets rough, we are all here to support you. Hugs, Lauren |
