Places where there is no I was surprised to know there are places where I can talke Boobah, without management coming up to me and saying "no dogs allowed!" I have already taken her to the bank, and we spoke to a representative at her desk. I have taken her of course, to Petco and such. She has gone to a doctor's office where I inquired about botox, or laser work on my face and even the doctor said "what a beautiful dog". But places where I wont take her would be the market, of course, places where there is food, etc. Im just glad I dont have to keep her locked up all the time. Any comments?:) |
I take Lacy with me almost everywhere too (except for the grocery store and restaurants..unless we sit on a patio) and we're never asked to leave. Only once at Target when they stopped allowing dogs in and once at the crappy mall where my parents live. The mall here and every other mall I go to is fine with her being there. |
It is nice to have a small dog that you can take a lot of places and they aren't a problem. There's lots of restaurants where you can take them if you sit outside and don't have to walk thru the restaurant to get to the patio etc. I used to take my Max to the doctor's, and the doctor and his staff loved it, but sometimes I felt a little funny since you never know when another patient will be there who isn't an animal person and might not like it. We always call ahead to anywhere that we're going to find out if they allow dogs so that we aren't blindsided! |
I'm glad I have a stroller to go to the mall, because most people don't look at what's in it. They just figure it's a baby stroller. |
i also take lacey almost everywhere, i am thinking i need her as much as she needs me, hmmm i wonder how you can make them into service dogs then thay really can go everywhere hehe. i did think about taking her with us to the keys for our annv (we leave tomorow) but then i remembered how many stray cats and chickens there are down there and changed my mind. i dont want her to get hurt or diseases ewww ya never know. so as much as i will miss her i am leaving her at home.:(.... |
I actually think it is odd to see a place (other than PetSmart, etc) where dogs ARE allowed. I can't tell you the last time I actually saw someone out with one other than a kids sporting event or something. I used to see dogs in Lowe's ONLY in the garden department from time to time, but they do not allow them there anymore either. |
Well, I envy you all........I am afraid that I live in a very UN dog friendly place...it is horrible!!! |
I live in San Diego and I think there aren't alot of dog friendly places :{ luckly my baby is small and quiet si I just sneak him in..hahaha If you call ahead what do you say??? That your dog will be in hes carrier, stroller? |

Yesterday, the security guard at Target asked me to leave even though Kiwi was in her carrier. I am confused by that place since sometimes they seem fine with it and then yesterday they asked me to leave. Other than that, most places seem to love having her there. The mall was fine, the post office, the bank, etc. I love being able to take her with me! I haven't tried the doctor's office yet! |

I used to take Jasper to the doctor with me monthly and the nurses abd secretararys went gaga over him but last month a patient complained while I was in the waiting room so I can no longer bring him with me! |
I work in a bank, and we love it when people bring their dogs with them. I personally think it's wonderful that so many people bring their dogs with them when possible. We also keep a supply of dog biscuits just as we have candy for the kids. The dogs love it and they know they are going to get a treat. |
I've taken cody with me to pay bills... we went to the bank, went to pay the cable bill, farmers furniture, my renters insurance. i take him in the mall to the doggie store. he rides with me when i go through drive thru at mcdonalds, burger king. places like that.. we went into blockbuster!! thats about it... no other dog friendly places here |
some places are just nicer ... Quote:
I have taken Monday with me to a few doctors' offices ... the doctors never said anything but one grumpy, perhaps underpaid "office manager" jumped on me about it .... even the doctor commented that my BP was lower b/c of the dog being with me. So go figure! I have been asked to leave HOME DEPOT (where everything is oh so pristine, right???) Now that I have 2 of them, I rarely take them with me except to the bank, where you would think they had trust funds ..... everyone is so nice to them there. |

I have taken Abby into pet stores, the bank, the post office, and even Kroger(my friend's mom is a manager and LOVES Abby :D) When you say "mall" do you mean they are allowed in the stores? or just the open part? We only have one mall that allows pets to come in a certain door into the petstore that's right next to it. I've never seen pets anywhere else in a mall, but I would love to be able to take Abby with me. |

I am so lucky that I live in a totally dog friendly neighborhood. They allow dogs to go everywhere around here. I live in Philadelphia (Northern Liberties). The one shopping place called liberties walk with all little one of a kind boutiques. Since alot of people visit a store called pet boutique the other store owners allow dog in their stores now so that we will come spend our money there too (lol). They even offer treats for the dog and the bank not only has a lolly pop bowl for the kids but also dog biscuits. The condo my sister lives in around the corner even put a dog run in there with a private outdoor park hidden on the third floor. |
Outside of Petsmart and Petco there isn't anything around here. :( |
I have taken Deiter to the bank, Micheals, Lowes, Barnes & Noble, the mall once, To a couple of resturants that have out door sitting. tjmax, best buy. He is either in his bag or sitting on my chest in his bag. |

Soory guys the place is called Chic Petique. I am going to atach their myspace address. I love the doggy song on there. Let me know if you love it too. Roxy will be going there tomorrow to buy a new toy. I love to take her out to places but I also get freaked out that someone is out to steal her from me. I guess I am just an over protective mommy. Myspace for the store http://www.myspace.com/chicpetique |
We are able to take Avie with us to ALOT of places!! i dont take her to the grocery store-even though i have, just to run in and they havent said anything(she was in her carrier) i have taken her into target MANY times(with her carrier and without))-its probably only a matter of time though, if what i hear is true-;) we will take her to eat with us if there is a patio/outside area(we have been to low key indoor places though-she just stays inside her carrier the whole time) When she was a baby we used to take her to the movies with us all the time!! hehe. (she would just sleep in her carrier)-but now that she is older.. she would be too excited by all the people!!:p we go to the mall alot and also to run errands.. Luckily-There are alot of dog friendly places where i live. |
I took my chloe at target one time and the security told us "she is allowed but has to be in the cart because some customers might complain" I don't know now tho. :D |
I always call ahead to see if my dogs are allowed. If they aren't, I just don't bring them. Honestly I find it a bit distracting if I am shopping to have my dog with me. If I know I am just running in and out, that's a different story.. but to actually shop I prefer them to stay home. Mckenzie is the only dog I have small enough to comfortably carry in her carrier and she is anxious in big crowds so if I can't properly socialize her, she stays home which is better for all of us. |
