Help!! sami got into ducktape Sami just came running (was trying) in with this long piece of ducktape stuck to his both his paws  I was able to cut some of it off and he is a having a fit! I can't seem to get it off fast enough for him, all his fur on his left paw and toenails are stuck! I was able to free his other paw, what can I do I can't cut any more off the left paw? his little nails on stuck on it what a mess :( I tried soaking his paw but he is not being to cooperative. Please anyone know how to lossen ducktape without taking off toenails, will it wear off?? |
nail polish remover might work.. or a paint thinner.. just make sure he doesnt lick it, so clean him off right away. |
poor little guy Oh gosh... Well..in the past sticky things have come off with cooking oil..it kind of takes the stickiness away and helps it slide off.. Duck tape is pretty sticky.. Your doing good to get off what you can right now..I know it will wear off..but the tape stuck to his hair will mat it and not really come off too fast. Give the oil a try and see. ;) |
You can also try vaseline. I used vaseline to get tape off of my beagle and it worked great! |
Tell him he 's like the women that waxes their leggs it'll only hurt a little while :D . I would try to loosen it very gently a little at a time, alos paint thinner might burn him so be careful what you use. |
Goo-gone is a product that takes off any tape residue. And it won't hurt him if he licks some of it. |
paint thinner wont hurt unless he eats it. |
I think useing the cooking oil or olive oil is best. And as a bonus the olive oil might make his coat shiny if he eats some of it. |
How horrible! What a weird thing to happen!! I'm not sure what to use, but I hope he's ok! They're so mischievous!!! |
PErsonally I would fill the bath enough to cover his feet and add baby oil to the water - I don't know if that would work - but that's what I would try - add enough oil so that it can soak in and try pulling the tape off in the tub - then you can shampoo him when you get it off... lol...Is he appplying for a UPS Position or something ? Does he have a sister or brother ? He may be holding them hostage somewhere all duck taped up :D |

Poor Sami! |
Thank You ALL!! ALL of your ideas put togeather Worked!! I grabbed goo-gone, vasaline, & olive oil didn't have baby oil or that would have been added. I filled the sink with warm soapy water put him in and squirted his paw with everything listed above. and put him standing in soapy water, in the other sink I turned on the water and proceded to bath him taking my time to allow all those ingredients to soak in  and before i was able to rinse him off There it was the piece of ducktape floating :D It is amazing how you can fall apart when it comes to forgetting how to think !! Thank you all so much!! :thumbs up |
When I had a problem like this when I first got Carter, someone posted letting me know that the goo-gone is toxic to dogs. |

my girls got tar from the driveway on their pads and the Baby Oil worked for that - I'd be scared to use anything I didn't know was gentle Very Good job cleaning up Sami - little mischief maker - That's actually funny - but I know the adhesive can be a PAIN in the BUTT to remove so I didn't laugh when it happened ...now I can...so - Hahahahah !! That was a funny story ! |
If it is gummy, you might try peanut butter. I know that this works if you've gotten gum in your hair and don't want to cut the gum out. Just put it in the spot and message it in...then bathe. |
