"Free Yorkie Admission" Do you know where we can take our Yorkies. The only store I have taken Maggie to, is Petsmart and Petco. If they are in a carrier, can they be taken to other stores? Has anyone taken their furbaby shopping at other stores? |
Chewy has been everywhere with me, stores, subways and bus, restaurants, you name it... I think if they are small enough and you have them in a completely zipped up carrier, you should be fine. Plus most people love to see them. When I have Chewy in the zip up, no one knows he's in there cuz it looks more like a purse ;) |
I take Remy every where! Sam's club, to the mall to get my hair and nails done and to work! |
I'm too nervous to try! However my fiance is working late tonight (our normal grocery shopping night) so I am considering taking her to Wegmans with me tonight. I'm not sure though b/c if she starts having a fit or if the store says something...it is a decent drive home just to come back later to get groceries. I want her to get used to her purse carrier though. Maybe we will try the carrier in the house first to see if she starts crying. I'll let you all know how it goes. :p |
I also take mine everywhere because they are service dogs and are allowed access under the law into any public place. The places I get hassled are usually restaurants and the schools, but I carry a FAQ sheet now put out by the government about service dogs and their rights to access so I am educating businesses who are unaware of the law. There is a common misconception on the part of some businesses and the general public that ony "guide dogs" are allowed access under the law, but this is not the case...any service animal assisting a person with a qualifying disability is allowed full access under the law. I saw a sign in a business yesterday that said "Registered Service Dogs Only" bu the law does not require that a service dog be registered so I thought it was wierd. Mine are registered with the Service Animal Registry of America and have ID cards with their picture on them just to make life easier. |
I sneak Coco in everywhere from movies, to restaurants and malls. I LOVE IT! I will actually register her for therapy dog to go visit nursing homes when she's big enough. |
Please tell me how to get them registered as a service dog, both of mine go over to the nursing home for "lovevisits",its so sweet to watch all of the older people love and talk about all of thier dogs, its good for the people and the dogs, they love it too that wasy they have thier special friends too |
Therapy dogs, unfortunately, do not qualify as service dogs, but if you have a disability that you can train your dog to assist you with then they can become a servixe dog and be allowed access anywhere under the Americans with Disabilities Act. It is a federal law and therefore takes precedence over all local and state laws. Go to www.usdoj.gov/crt/ada/qasrvc.htm - 9k Questions About Service Animals in Places of Business and you will get lots of info on the law. |
Check out my New Thread titled, "Maggie Was Turned Away". I am still mad. |

Does training them to pick the remote up and bring it to me because after a 6 mile run I am too lazy qualify??? Sorry just being a smart ass. But I have seriously thought about training one of my monsters to do that. When I am done working out the last thing that I want to do is get up after sitting down for something as stupid as the remote. And it never fails, the TV is always set to something boring or dumb so I have to. :) |

LOL! Yeah - I've got to try that!! Well, not the working out part - but the remote control part!!! |

BTW...mine do retrieve the remote! They even know which is to the cable and which is for the DVD! |

Wow!! Now that's impressive! Mine don't even know the difference between a puppy pad and a bathmat!! |
