Parti-Gene Carrier?? These puppies are allegedly parti-gene carriers. What exactly does that mean? I am thinking of getting a girl playmate for Trigger, and like the puppies but they are pretty pricey since they are this parti-carrier thing. I don't get it. Someone please enlighten me. http://view.admission.net/admission/...3&partnerlogo= |
I think it means they can pass on the gene for parti-colored Yorkies...which is a fault and, therefore, not worth MORE. Not saying partis aren't cute. :) Someone correct me if I mis-spoke. |
it says that they are $1200 which i think is pretty good for a yorkie pup considers how much some others charge. what it means by parti-gene carrier is that these pups have a parti father (what ad says) and a standard color mother. THese pups will carry the gene for parti colors so if they were to be bred with a parti or another carrier they can produce some parti pups themselves. SInce you're looking for another yorkie to be a playmate it won't matter if they are carriers or not because you are probably going to get the dog fixed and not bred it. if this price is more in your area then a standard color yorkie i'd pass on these pups. i have a splitter yorkie (half biewer, half yorkie) and she is no different then a regular yorkie. she does have a little white on her chin, chest, and two toes on her hind left leg. |
I agree. I have a Biewer and I love him to death. He's so mellow. |

pup Are you thinking of breeding? If not carrying a parti gene is meaningless...why pay for a gene that will never be used..unless you are breeding her? |
THose pups are soooo cute!!! |
They might carry the parti-gene. If one parent carries the gene, only 1 out of 4 will carry the gene, I think. The puppies are cute. Did you decide to buy one? |
I LOVE THE ONE IN THE 6TH PIC!!! oh my gosh he/she is too die for with those white legs! |
are they here in TX? |

just be careful! Aww too rich for my blood on the 1600 ones but i love that one little girl! |
It means if you breed them to another dog with the pie bald gene you would get some tri color puppies. This is to the best of my knowledge. Check out Scrapindee's webpage for a complete description, or pm her. Biewers and parti's are yorkies with a tri color coat. |
new yorkie pup my blue and gold yorkie just had a puppy, that is black and tan, with white on it's chest. The dad is blue and gold. Would she be considered a tri-color?:animal-pa:animal36 |

:animal36 I raise ShihTzu's, I recently fell in love with Daisy, my yorkie. she is 5.6 pounds and her boufriend,Stallon is 3.6 pounds. Daisy had 1 female puppy,Lacey, 6.6 oz. I love the breed and may start raising them also. I just wasn't sure how you would define the coloring with the white on the chest! Thanks for all your help.:animal-pa:animal-pa:animal36:animal36:animal-pa:animal-pa |
I know this is an old thread. BUT, I was wondering about showing AKC Parti Gene Carriers. My Bayleigh is a parti gene carrier, I am not considering showing her, but I am considering getting into the show arena. I want to make sure I purchase the right dog when the time comes. I dont see any where on Bayleighs papers that is says, parti gene carrier. So, how would they know? Do they research to find that the father was the parti & then she (or another dog) would be disqualified? I have been told 2 different things. I was told they would not allow parti gene carriers in the ring, then I was told that they do. So, I am confused now. |

help I have a male yorkie puppy who has white on both of his back feet, well on the tips and had some on his chest when he was born. can he be a carrier when neither parents are? help:confused: |
This is a very old thread. You might get some responses if you post as a new thead. |
"fault" nature express's itself in many ways. you want to stand in front of that its up to you. The partis are BEAUTIFUL for people who can open their mind. It wont ruin the breed and IS NOT a fault, but an expression of a gene that exits because the Maltese was used way back to create this breed for a better coat, when you realize humans tend to decided what is except able in nature and what is not, A carrier should not matter in a pet, so don't pay more, or look else where, as the parti is rare still, and totally trashed by breeders of traditional Yorkies. God made them, they exists, and are beautiful in their own right. For the breeders that get them and DESTROY them...Yes DESTROY shame one you. The parti will not ruin the breed, but should be recognized as a sub set of the Yorkie, all would be fine. |
my traditional female was bred with a parti gene carrier and she had 4 puppies. all have traditional colors with some white at the chest. one of them in particular has a very deep distinctive patch of white on her chest, while the others is present but not as distinctive. I assume not all of the puppies are carriers as a result. can someone please enlighten me? also, what kind of testing is available to determine whether a particular puppy is, in fact, a parti carrier? thanks. |
