Help!! Oder Yorkie fighting with pup
 
Hi everyone

I'm really worried. I have 2, 4 year old Yorkie bitches and a 4 month old Yorkie pup(male) Most of the time they just play fight, but for the last couple of days one of the 4 year olds has really been snapping at the pup. I have to leave them for an hour on Thursday, which will be the 1st time they have been left alone, I have no option as I have an hospital appointment. I'm at the end of my tether as to what to do. I love all my babies and coulden't even think of letting any of them go. Any suggestions??(about the fighting)

This just happened to me as well. My fiance's mom has a 7 yr old yorkie female and didn't take well to a new puppy in her house thinking he made the rules. Its common for the female to be alpha dog in the house, shes most likely just trying to teach him some manners. Queen of the house deserves some respect, don't you agree? The puppy will learn in time where his place is in the pack, then the agression will most likely stop.

I can't help you with the problem but I can tell you I would never go out
and leave the three alone. The puppy needs protecting if your not home.
Perhaps a gate across the kitchen or bathroom with the puppy behind it.
I have read where a dog will kill a puppy if they feel threatened. No way
would I ever leave a puppy with a fightening female or male without
supervision.

I wouldn't leave them alone either. Can you crate the puppy while your gone?

I agree with you. I have thought about leaving the pup in another room, he has never been seperated from the other dogs so I know he will howl n cry,& be upset but at least he will be alive!! I dont know if I'm doing the right thing in smacking the bitch when she goes for him, its just an instant reaction, I dont know what to do, I've never been in this situation before as there is only 4 months between my bitches n they never fight.

How long have you had the puppy? My older dog (she's 2) took about a month to get where she got along with Roo and now they sleep together though Taya still growls at her occassionally when Roo's bothering her. Most of the time I think dogs work it out but I'd definitely only let them be together while supervised!

Hi Roosmom

Ive had the pup since he was 6 weeks old. They get along just fine most of the time, they seem to love each other, its just the last couple of days, the pup wants to play all the time & sometimes the bitch really goes for him, I dont know wether she's just saying she's had enough or if she really means it.She never really plays with toys but now she wants his & she snaps at him for them. I just dont know what to do. I give all my dogs the same ammount of love, well at least I think I do. I'm at my wits end with worry, I cant be in the same room as them 24 /7
