I'm interested I have seen some of the most adorable little things on this board, but I have a question about the little mixed dogs. Some owners have told me it is Yorkie mixed with Maltese, and some look like they might be yorkie mixed with Lasha or maybe s**tz....am I correct??? Do these new breeds have a name, and how popular is this practice??? Also does anyone have pictures of what they look like as adults??? They sure are cuties, but I still have to go with a pure Yorkie for myself. |
Some folks call them "designer" breeds, but they are still mixes/mutts and even though they can be very adorable, I would never pay the price most are asking simply because they have put a fancy label on them. |
Are you referring to the Parti Yorkies that some members have on YT? Or the Briewers maybe? You ARE talking about dogs that you've seen on this site, right? |

I think they do have names, but I can't remember them all offhand. I think mixing breeds is pretty popular. They are all really adorable, but shouldn't cost MORE than a full bred Yorkie. I don't consider a Biewer to be in the mixed breed catagory. To me they are a breed unto themselves and will eventually be recognized as such, I hope. |

Lets see a yorkie / poodle is a yorkiepoo but I can't think of any others either. |
Chip is predominantly a Yorkie, and I'm pretty sure part Chihuahua. He was a rescue so I have no idea to be sure. I call him a Yorhuahua, but I have also heard Yorkihuahua, and Chorkie. When he was first adopted he was super skinny, less than 10lbs now he has grown into a little over 14lbs. You can see pics of him on his Dogster page http://www.dogster.com/dogs/596293 |

She's ADORABLE!!! |
shih tuz/yorkie - shorkie. I wouldn't spend the same amount on a mix, but that being said, they can be wonderful pets too. My Teddy is a mix (half maltese half yorkie) and when people ask me what he is I tell them he is a mix. I never call him a morkie because I think it gives the wrong impression - My boyfriend makes fun of the whole mix-breed thing and always calls Teddy a morkie poo or some other combo of breeds. I didn't set out looking for a mix or "designer dog," but when I went to the breeder (she bred maltese and yorkies) she had a litter of crosses and when I saw his face it was love. |

What they are 'called' depends on what the person trying to make $$$ off of them decides to label them as. They don't have 'official' names because the are not 'official' breeds.:) |
Ok, I was at a mall today and they had Zuchons in the window of the pet store. I'm guessing Bichon & what?? They were asking for $3000 and the sign inside said, "the papers that come with these dogs are not necessarily registerable."--or something like that. I'll stick with the Biewers. At least we are attempting to put legitimacy to them as a separate breed. |
also with getting these mixes, you can look at all the adult pics you want but you will never know what yours turns out to look like. Even if it looks more yorkie when its small it can completely change and vise versa. So im not saying they arent cute cuz they are! but im saying dont get your hopes up on our adult pics and base that your puppy may look like these. |
