What is that smell!!!??? My yorkie has this smell sometimes that is just nauseating. I give hime a bath every 3-4 days. It's definitely not his poop or pee smell. Smells worse than poop. Maybe a vinegary smell sorta? Anyone know what it is? Someone help! |
Is it his breath? |
Is the smell coming from his mouth? How old is he? |
maybe, if not his breathe, his anal glands? |
ears? Ear mites caused Gizmo's ears to smell AWFUL! Poor baby. Hope you get it figured out soon. |
Yea, I was going to say his anal glands also. They made need to be expressed. |
I don't know if this is the same smell but when Lexie was in heat and the boys wore belly bands all the time when I changed them Mac's smelled like a skunk or something...it was bad.... :) |
I remember when I first got Aubrey a few weeks later there was this horrible smell that I could not get over, I use to put baby powder on him and wipe him down, he grew out of it I guess.. |

Its a nasty fishy smell |
Well, I can tell you this much...every so often, I'm laying in my bed with Gracie. Out of no where comes this stench of death. A smell so bad you don't know whether to run or vomit. This smell is usually followed by a strange gurgling sound. OOOOPS! Gracie farted again!:D More serious now...is the smell continuous or does it come and go after about a minute? |

I wonder if maybe when he gets a bath some water gets in his ears and it could be yeast. Just a thought, I hope you find the culprit and a solution!! Good Luck, this gives new meaning to yorkies being "little stinkers"... Bah ha ha,,,,, I kill me! Weird question, but is there any discharge from his eyes or (whisper) penis? |
Anal glands smell like a stinky, strong, muscy, fishy smell. If it's not the breath or anal glands, it could be an ear infection. Those can smell terrible too. I think a trip to the vet might be a good idea. No dog should smell that bad, especially if you bathe that regularly |
In case it's ears, my Shi Tzu has chronic yeast ear infections. Smells sooooo bad. We use Dr. Ear from Native Remedies. |
I would have to agree..ear infection or anal glands..both are just as disgusting smelling...although ear infections really smell bad..its worth a check up at the vet thats for sure!! Dawn |
yah could be ear infection. |
It's most likely his anal glands. His ears are fine. Does everyones yorkie smell and need there anal glands expressed? What causes it? |

Teddy sometimes gets the smell of sour milk on his face. It doesn't really seem to be coming from his mouth (breath), but more like the hair on his face, which is strange because he doesn't drink milk. I just figured it was because he stuck his face in his water again and the hair got wet. It goes away for a while after his bath. |
You should take him to the vet. You've gotten a lot of possibilities here -- eye gunk, breath, ears, anal glands, even a urinary infection. I'll give you one more...we had a poodle that reeked. I kept sniffing every orifice of that girl trying to find out the source. Gave her numerous baths. Took her to the vet, and it turned out she had an almost non-functioning thyroid gland. One of the symptoms is a nasty odor. After a few weeks on a very inexpensive medication (which was for life), she smelled great, and she felt so much better. None of the possibilities you've been given can be cured by you. You must take your fur baby to the vet before whatever is causing this gets worse. You don't want him at risk or in pain. Let us know what the vet finds out. |
