my very own therapy dog I went to the doctor today and they told me I have strep. He says I have probably been fighting it for quite a while and he thinks that might be the cause of my headaches...my body trying to fight it off. He gave me a shot of antibiotics and some z-pak for the strep. he also gave me some meds for the headache. he says that if the headaches do not go away with the strep, he wants to run some test... anyway, my reason for this post is because maggie will not leave my side (except when hubby feeds her LOL) she is right next to me all the time, and when I am laying down, she is on top of me. If I get up to go to the bathroom or get a drink, she is jumping up wanting me to hold her. She is soooooooooooo sweet!!!! She is my very own therapy dog :) |
Pepe Mint - so glad you went to the doc and that he gave you meds to get all better. I had strep and it's no fun. Isn't it nice that Maggie is right next to mommy making her feel better. Oh - and that's a nice way to lose some weight..lol. |

That is very sweet! What a good baby! You know what's strange... I have strep really bad right now too, but mine won't go away! I've tried amoxicillin, z-pack, and now I'm on levaquin. I've had it since the beginning of this month. Tomorrow I'm going to an ENT to see what's up. I hope you can get over it! This is miserable! |
Our vet says is is possible, not likely, but possible for a dog to catch strep from a human. After my last month, I would be very careful letting maggie anywhere near your face. The week before Labor Day, I had what started out as a horrible sore throat, fever and then a couple of days later, chest congestion, etc. I thought it was a bad summer cold. On labor day, Ruby didn't feel well, wouldn't eat and was lethargic. I took her in to the vet the next day. Two days later, Ruby has chest congestion, runny nose and fever. Long story short - they didn't know what was going on and took blood to send off for lab analysis. The place on her throat where the needle went in became abscessed. The abscess grew to almost golf ball size and about killed her. Just in the past couple of days has the sore really started to heal and this nightmare is finally about over. After over $500 in vet bills, I still don't know exactly what made her sick in the first place, they don't test for strep. This has taken a month out of our lives and has been the scariest thing I've ever faced with her. So as a precaution, in the future if I get cold symptoms again - Ruby won't be kissing me until it's over!!!!! |
