I have 2 beautiful yorkies one is 3 pd and the other is 5 pds. My husband would like a doberman. Has any one had a big dog with yorkies? Hs anyone had a doberman and a yorkie? I heard some have need feed back

I don't have any big dogs. But both of mine Aubrey 14 lbs, and Dakota 2 lbs yorkies LOVE playing with the neighbors big dogs.

It would be fine since your yorkies are older then the pup would be! In the beginning the pup would be around your yorkie's sizes, so your babies could/would boss it around. As it gets bigger, it will still think it is little and it will follow your furbutts every bark and command! Thats how it is with my Beau and my grandparent's two golden retrievers at least!:rolleyes: GOOD LUCK!!!

There is a pair of dobermans on my street, Chip hasn't quite totally warmed up to them yet. They are the typical guard dog doberman, without being vicious so everytime we walk by they bark like crazy. We've approached them a couple of times, they are friendly and quiet down after a sniff. Also they are both female and Chip is all about the boys:eyebrow2:

I have two girls 2.9 & 5 1/2 and my parents have a doberman, Lucy. Lucy loves them, they all get along great, they play together it's just the cutest thing. I take my girls to my parents how a few times a week and never had a problem. Im paranid, so I wouldnt leave them alone just in case, but otherwise they are great together.

Hi...We have Gunnar, a rottweiler, and our 2 little yorkies. They are doing fine.

My best friend- she has 3 Yorkies and a Rottweiler. They have done fantastic. The Yorkies were first...So the rott thinks he is a 90 lb Yorkie. He seriously does not realize he is huge...That is where we got the idea that it would be okay.

I would post pics but I can never get anyone still long enough. I always get the The toy or The bone or The ball...No dogs....lol

Now we do watch them carefully to make sure that no one gets hurts and we never leave them alone....But it works for us :D

I think as long as you raise them up together they'll be fine. Yours are already old enough to know their the boss.

I have 2 adult Doberman with puppies + 5 Yorkies .

My husband wanted a large dog for awhile too. I think it's a "macho" thing with them. Anyway I told my husband if he got one then he would be the one who stays home with it 24-7 to train it and take care of it. With two Yorkies to groom, bathe walk twice a day and such, there is no way I'm taking on a big dog. :p He realized he would not have the time it takes to deal with a large dog and wouldn't be fair to try and put it on me.

As if only wanting Yorkies wasn't a control thing for women .

I agree! It is totally a macho thing! Every time I start talking about wanting another yorkie, my boyfriend has to give his 2 cents and say, "Well if you get another yorkie then I get my choice of a dog."

"Which is...?"

"I dunno. Something big and mean looking though...like a rotty or something."

"Why would you want one of those big dogs? They don't fit in clothes as easily!!!" (which I just say to bother him because he hates when I dress up Beau. I secretly love big dogs too! ;) )
