TV and your dog When you are gone do you leave the TV on cartoons, etc? Do they watch it? I left it on cartoons today for Teddy cause when i left he was just sitting on the couch like he knew i was leaving and he looked so sad. So i left out some of his toys and couldn't resist putting on cartoons. Atleast it won't be so quiet. The girls stay together in my room so atleast they have each other but Teddy stays by himself in the living room. He loves being on the couch. I couldn't tell though if he likes tv or not..what do you guys do? |
Chip just sleeps in his snuggle ball when I'm gone, or he'll sit on the stairs and look out the window into the street. He's perfectly fine with quiet, except when my cat starts screaming at him for no reason:confused: |

I have been lately for Aubrey, Dakota goes in her cage, but Aubrey layes on my bed, and looks soo sad and makes me feel bad. |
I always leave the house quiet, i worry that he may be tired and wanting to relax and sleep and the telly might be driving him nuts lol |

:p We have always left Animal Planet on for Toto on those rare occasions that we leave her. We suspect that she probably sleeps the whole time but we leave it on to help shut out any outside noises that bother her. We let people, who don't know us very well, just think we are nuts when we say we leave it on for her!! :rolleyes: |
My sister lives on the second floor apt., and back in Zippy's younger years the first floor would say it sounds like Zippy is having a party while she was at work. :party: When she got home she would find that he jumped on the coffee table and kicked off a bunch of the magazines and books on it, and the hall way rugs would be bunched up. |
Avery stays downstairs in the living room.. I keep her in her x-pen. In there is one of her beds, lots of her toys, food, water, and a pee pad(it is the perfect amount of space for her-and she ususally likes to sleep during the day anyways) I put a few cheerios in there for her, so she at least has something to look forward to(i kinda hide 'em for her) I also keep the fans going and the TV on!!(i just keep it on MTV-only cuz thats what i have been doing since we got her.. but she would probably like cartoons!!) -it's so funny.. she watches tv now and recognizes certain sounds coming from it.. if she hears something she will sit there and tilt her head to the side, back-and-forth.. im sure you know what i mean-its the cutest thing!! :p |
I don't leave the TV on, because I'm usually always here, and besides they have each other for company. |
I leave the tv, the radio and the webcam as well...Most of the time all i get to see is a blank screen because she hangs out in other areas But I do like to leave the radio in one room and the tv on in the other(believe me my energy bill has gone up) Specially with the A/C the little princess it's just spoiled I hope she knows i hav eto work hard to give her the luxury (lol) But w.all jokes aside, She goes to work w/me a lot, so I must stop talking bad about her |
I always leave TV on when I leave her and I turn it off when we both go out so she knows if I turn off the TV, it means she gets to go places with me!! :D So now I can't turn it off the TV.... I put soap opera for her so she can recap for me when I get home!!! :D Just kidding. I leave it on NBC since right before I leave for work, I'm watching Today's Show and keep it on!! |

Yes I do..One reason is I have birds too..It helps me to think they are not lonely.. I leave on Cartoon network. But I am thinking on leaveing on QVC.. not so much bad stuff there |
Yep I leave the t.v. on for cody. I have to put him in large pen . cause he would destroy the house if left out. he watches t.v. w. me when im home! he loves rachael ray and animal planet. scooby doo is his fave! |
I don't leave anything on, but it reminded me of a funny story. Coby hasn't shown much interested in tv, but Reggie (our Shi Tzu) loves to watch animals on TV. In the movie Homeward Bound, there is a big white female poodle near the end that captures Chance's heart, I believe. Well Reggie LOVED that girl. He would ignore the whole movie, but EVERY time she came on, he was all over the tv, whining, licking, barking. Also, there used to be a dog food commercial that had a dog tugging on a rope. He liked that commercial, but it frustrated him, because when the rope was "dropped" out of the camera view, Reggie would spend a long time looking for the rope on the floor under the tv. It must have taken 50 or more times watching that commercial and looking for the rope before he gave up. ............ So maybe I should leave the tv on???? |
I leave the TV on every day, my boys prefer the daytime drama's of cbs. They are particularly interested if Jack and Carly will ever get back together!;) They also sit on the back of the couch in the window and police the neighborhood from there. They are watching me when I pull out of the garage (of course, I wave to them as I leave) and they are usually up there when I pull in!!! The best part of my day is coming home to my babies!! |

I leave the TV on for Lillz...there is something about Spongebob's voice that intrigues her. She just lays there and stares at him. LOL |

Now that Jasper is 6 months old and is not a wire chewer I give hime the run of the house and leave the cartoon network chanel on for him .lol he really does watch it.I usually am never away for more than 4 hours. |
I leave the radio on for Sadie. I'm hoping it drowns out any outside noises she hears from the apts. and she doesn't bark. I don't think it matters to her boredom....she just sleeps anyway. The rare times that I do leave her running around when I'm gone I do leave the tv on, but usually I'm not going to be gone long when I do this. |
I leave the tv or the radio on for them. They do sometimes watch it but most of all they listen to it, it makes them feel less alone and stops them from barking too much. Also I think maybe it might make people think there is someone in the house. |
i leave the tv on for lexi everyday on the cartoon network. she just listens to it and it drowns out the noise from outside a bit.. she just sleeps all day long poor thing |
