Pet stores that sell from animal mills!! Maybe we sould all band together and not purchase anything from them. No matter what animal they are selling unless they do the spca adoption thing day. We all love to buy out furbabies lots of stuff. If we stop funding them then maybe they will shut down or stop selling dogs. I know I personally tell people who see my lil one who say they want one too not to buy from a pet store after they say so and so pets has one. |
I don't buy anything at a petstore that sells dogs or cats. I don't care if it's the only place in town - I wouldn't buy from them. I'd order online |
You can see that my signature pretty much says exactly what alot of here feel. |
Never have, never will. And I make a point of letting them know, I'm not and why. |

I refuse to buy anything at petstores to.. I wish more people were educated about them.. I just told my moms fiance's brother and his wife that there is no such thing as a teacup dog.. Her first response was "They're advertised though!" So I went into my whole little speech.. I felt bad about telling her about puppymills because she has two dogs she got from a pet store.. I'll save that for next time I see her. |
I am done with the stores that sell pets of any type. I think I am going to stick with online and on boutiques for Roxy. |
Seriously Do we really need to go through this sort of debate? I just want to say this. In my own opinion stuff like this insults people that have great pets from these places (or bought from mills directly without having knowledge of it) and got them before really knowing everything behind 95% of them. Just my opinion and no offense to any of you. |

Puppy Mills are terrible. I have seen things online and on Animal Planet. I will say that the main store I shop just has birds (not my favorite) reptiles and rodent type things. So that place does not bother me to much. People will still be people and do what they want I suppose. |
Keep an eye out for stores that sell ferrets too. They're mass produced in mills. Personally, I don't shop anywhere that sells dogs, cats, ferrets, rabbits or guinea pigs-- the first three because they are probably coming from mills, the last two because rabbits and cavies are super-common in rescues and I think it is irresponsible to keep breeding and selling animals that produce so many offspring when you can't find homes for the ones you already have. |
I wouldn't buy anything from a pet store that sold animals either. |
I also will not buy anything from a store that sells animals. IMO it is not an insult for people to educate about puppymills, the truth is the truth. Where people buy an animal is ultimately their choice regardless of if they know where they come from or not but hopefully spreading the word about the truth of puppymills will lead to more educated purchases by those out there who never knew they existed. |

I was the animal caretaker for pet supplies plus...they do not sell cats or dogs. BUT they sell ferrets and many of you may not think of a ferret as a great pet but let me tell you I would put ferrets up against yorkies intelligence wise anyday. THEY ARE BRILLIANT they just act like cats and pick and choose when they use it. They run to the door to you when you get home from work and lick your face like crazy!! they snuggle in bed with you, they beg when your eating, and are the biggest clowns ever!!! Bella and my oldest ferret would match wits a lot! Both very smart and sneaky and Id laugh at thier games. PLEASE if you see ferrets in a pet store in bad conditions TURN THEM IN or demnd they be cleaned. I would never support a store that sells cats, dogs, OR ferrets in poor conditions. Ferrest are illegal to breed period and are illegal in some states (i have no idea why and if they are banned in your state...your missing out!!) The come from a GIANT mill called Marshall farms that is HORRIBE and equivelent to a puppy mill. ITS SICKENING. If you wanna read on some major controversy google Marshall Farms Ferrets. Its bad. Ferrets should have shots just like cats and dogs, get rabies vac, and be giiven flea and tick preventative. They need to be seen by vets just like our fur butts. I know this is a bit off topic but since we are talking about mills, and unethical practices by store please watch out for the ferrets too.....They are not a rodent as these stores like to treat them. |
