Bats Do bats normally go after dogs?? I do not know a thing about bat behavior or diet but one was swooping at Diggy at dusk tonight in the back yard....and me running to Diggy didnt scare it! It kept swooping above our heads in a circle. Anyone familiar with what kind of bat would be in Southeastern Michigan and if they are aggressive? |
That's scary!! Be careful because it might have rabies? Not sure, but I hope someone has some answers for you! Did you get my pm? |

Haha! Okay :) |
We had bats when I lived in New Jersey that would swoop you too. I don't know if their dangerous or not. |
Hey did those bats have Indians' uniforms on??:sidesplt: Just kiddin! That would scare me if I saw them swoopin down on Izzy, too and I'd be out there with my broom swooshing them away. Hey did anyone see on FOX news those bats that invaded those dorm rooms and those kids were swatting them with anything they could get their hands on. It was something to see. |
We have brown bats in Michigan. That's pretty freaky! |
well im googling it and did the ask jeeves thing but not much help....there are 9 species of bats in Michigan....but I have never seen one sitting still so cant identify what kind it is. It does say that all 9 species eat insects :D and that ALL bats can HAVE rabies but do not carry it, they die from them. Not sure if this is making me feel better or not. The bats in my yard are not huge, but not small either. Hubby says wing span is about 10-12 inches YICK I don't hate them but I would feel better knowing what kind they are and if they even bite small animals. |

no bats, just owls |
Contact the wild animal expert in your area. I doubt very much if any bat attacks people or animals. Some bats are just fruit bats, but the ones who drink blood usually do it on livestock. They scare off easily as well. |
