Had anyone hear/read this horrible news news? Gator That Killed Yorkie Captured, Killed The alligator that killed a Yorkshire terrier at a lake in Volusia County was captured and killed Wednesday morning. Investigators in Daytona Beach said an alligator attacked the yorkie at a lake in the Grand Champion subdivision. Police said the dog's owner was taking pictures of a golf course, when the dog went to take a drink the lake and was pulled under. The owner went into the lake to try to save the dog but it was too late. Officials said our current drought is forcing gators out of their current locations on a hunt for water. |
how horrible. Prayers for this yorkie's owner - I can't imagine witnessing something so horrible :( |
Gators There was a family of 3 in the canal near our house..they caught the mom and baby, but POP is still out there...it is not wise to walk near any body of water in Florida...except the ocean..! |
Unfortunately it happens frequently in Florida, thats why they advise you not to walk your dog too close to the water. |
gator I feel really bad for the yorkie and the owner. I know, I would be totally devistated. But, if I lived in gator land, the last place I would have my dog or child would be by the water. I know, hind site is 20/20. Lynn |
I feel bad for the yorkie but I also feel bad for the Gator..:( |
Gator I love dogs, but the Gator was only doing what Gators do... |
I never could get really excited over reptiles or even sharks for that matter. I do feel very sorry for the owner of that little Yorkie. I don't even like to think of how I would feel if something like that happen to one of mine. |
Very very sad.....:( |

Gators Fortunately, they rarely shoot Gators or big snakes here, they capture them and turn them loose in the Everglades...hoping it will take a few years to find their way back...LOL |
