Will the biting ever end? 1 Attachment(s) I have had several puppies and i know they all love to bite and chew on things. BUt i dont remember when they stop doing this. Do yorkies tend to do this more. CHloe chews on everything and like I said in other posts, she LOVES chewing on wires. If I dont watch her 24 -7 she ruins something. She also loves to chew on my flesh and not to be a baby but it really can hurt. She made Tinkerbell bleed :( .She is 6 months right now. When do they grow out of this or do they? And yes I provide her with plenty of different types of toys to chew on. :animal-sm I have included a picture of her doing her favorite activity- knawing on my finger. |
You need to MAKE her stop! Tell her NO! Don't let her do it. Get bitter apple for the wood corners and such. Keep cords out of reach. |
Chloe looks beautiful in red!!!! I have the same biting problem so don't have any advice. Lily is also bad about chewing on me and especially my youngest daughter. It's horrible! |
I tell her no on anything that is not a toy. I guess I do let her play bite my hand on occasion. She doesnt quite get the word NO yet. My last puppy literally loved bitter apple so I gave up on that stuff. Is she almost at an age where she will grow out of it? |
I don't think she will grow out of it, I think you have to make her stop. A spray bottle of water is good if it scares her. We also slap a newspaper on our leg or a table to stop undesirable behavior. One day a friend of mine was over and Bronx was out barking at a new dog in our neighborhood. I guess I was talking and ignoring him. My husband came running out of the house with a rolled up paper, slapped it on the side of the house, hollered BRONX and headed out into the yard. I thought she was going to flip! I said 'he isn't going to hit him.' But it does work, he comes running back up all squatted down on his belly. (the dog) |

I'm sad. I really thought it was a phase. I guess I will have to try some of your methods. Thanks for the help. I am a really bad mother becuase I am a sucker for a cute puppy dog face which makes it hard to get onto them. I am going to have to take charge ;) |
You can do it! It really only takes a couple of times and it will seem like she grew out of it. You have kids? They are the same way. Surprising how long you put up with stuff hoping they will grow out of it. |

No kids. Just 2 older dogs. But they didnt have that cute curious teddy bear looking puppy face :p |
They are adorable. And you do have to be careful not to hit them because they are so delicate and small. We even have to be careful not to scare Zowie, she cowers when my husband pulls out the flyswatter. She is always good though. Bronx is our little mess. He is so precious though. He crouches and looks up with those adorable eyes. Then I pick him up and hug and kiss him! :p |
