Snoozer car seat pics 3 Attachment(s) As some of you may know back in June I was in a bad car accident and my explorer was totaled. http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=91272 I knew I would have to have Annie in a carseat in order to feel safe with her in the vehicle again. I looked around did research and decided on the Snoozer brand. I was even able to special order it to match my explorer and Annie. I can not begin to tell you how much better I feel about this. She is securely fastened into the carseat and to the vehicle. Last week my husband and I went to Seattle for the day. It is a 3 hour trip across 2 mountain passes. 1 of the mountains is pretty curvy. Annie and the carseat stayed put, they did not move or slide at all what so ever!!! She seems to really like being in it and she can see out all of the windows. She actually ducked when we turned on the window washer. :p |
She looks really happy in it, I know it makes you happy Muriel, and by the way.... Annie is gorgeous....:D |
That is a very nice car seat and your baby look so happy, good for you:thumbup: |
I just got one myself that I bought from another YT member. I love it! And my babies love it too! Sonya |
Snoozers are great Those car seats are the best!! We move ours from vehicle to vehicle..... and the also ride it it when we are going down the road in the RV. We have the oversized one (works for 2 fubabies) and it isn't as "bulky" as the buddy size one. We have the one with the handy drawer underneath. LOVE IT! |
First, let me say what a cute girl you have. Second of all your post has made me think. I am on the road a lot. When I drive to my moms its about 25 minutes one way. I work there. We run a business and she is where I do all my work. Anyway, Winstin goes with me every time. I put him is his crate a couple times but he did not like it and neither was I impressed. It moved to much. So, needless to say he lays on my lap. I have been seeing bits and pieces about carseats, but was unsure. Right now my baby is 3.8 pounds and I would die if something happened to him. especially because of me being careless. Where do I find such carseats and whatever I need to go with it? You and Annie may have saved my babies life and others who read this thread. Thank you for posting it. Jen |
Very nice seat and a great reminder for safety. Can I ask where you got yours? I'm thinking of trying to find one where Wylie (7.5 lbs) and Marcel (2.5 lbs) could sit togther in it - do you think they could? |

Snoozer car seats are sold many places. I got both of mine on Ebay (I have the regular console seat and the My Buddy Lookout). They had the best prices since most of them ship withou cost. You can also find them at several online stores (Tinkerbell's Closet is just one). There are a couple other brands/styles of carseats out there as well. Outward Hound makes one that many here have. I tried that one first as it is much less expensive and my Sissy hated it. Plus, I only had headrests to connect it to in the front seat - and you are never supposed to put one of these car seats (other than a console) in the front seat due to airbags. Whichever seat you decide on, they supply everything you need to secure it to the car as well as your pup. All of them require some kind of harness on your pup that you supply (to get tethered in with). Hope this helps. |
Annie looks very comfortable in her new seat. The peace of mind that comes with these seats is worth every penny. Plus, the pups just seem to love riding in them!!! |
We love our Snoozer console and so glad that I got mine after reading so many good things about it here on YT. The longest Izzy has been in her Snoozer is 2 hours and there were no problems. She mostly sleeps but when she's up she can see out the front window and also be right next to me.:D I also got mine on Ebay with shipping I think it ran me $50. |
After reading your story I know I definitely have to get a car seat for my 2 furbabies. I try to take them with me all the time and make a lot of road trips to Miami/Ft Lauderdale. Annie looks very content and happy in her car seat. Is this the console car seat for SUVs? If you don't mind me asking, what type of SUV do you have. We have a Ford Explorer and I just wanted to make sure it would fit. BTW, Annie is beautiful.:) |
She looks so sweet, thats a lovely car seat :) |
We have spent quite bit on expensive car seats and they always do the same thing. They manage to get themselves over the side and just hang there. We have decided on just finding the strap that goes on the car harness and hooks to their harness. They can't look out anymore, but it's better than having to stop every few minutes to get them back into their seats. |

It's still a better option than in your lap - and I think since that incident last week she kinda knows but I still watch her. Most of the time she is sleeping and/or sitting in it. ;) |
So what's good for a small car? Bailey is on my lap at the steering wheel, turning on my cruise control... Is the car seat advisable due to air bags, or I have a very small console between seats. Which is better? Dog.com has a car seat around $25.00 anyone use this one??? |
I have a 2004 Explorer and the SUV size console seat works great. Smaller cars would have to use the small size. I know they make one for up to 4lbs and one up to 12 lbs.. (that is the suv size). I can fit two (yorkies) in my SUV size.. Mine love sitting on the console and I feel so much safer with the seat than without it. Wish we had it when we took our long trip to Wyoming, but even then the babies were very good to travel with. i* USED A SEATBELT THRU THE HANDLE ON THE CRATE AND THEY WERE FINE. oF COURSE i LEFT THE DOOR OPEN MOST OF THE TIME (oops) sorry about the caps. That seat looks really nice....I just know Teddi would never stay in that seat. |
I want one SO bad... but 89$ WOW... I guess my Chloe is worth is huh.... but I'm a bargain shopper:( |
I believe the best way to keep your yorkie safe in the car is by using a crate that you can seatbelt in. I have a pet taxi which has a place to secure it with the seat belt. I think what would happen if I rolled over and got stuck upside down? If she was tethered to something it could hang her and what about debris that could hit her? If she is safely confined in the crate and the crate is seatbelted in she wouldn't be thrown all over the place and would be protected from anything flying around the car in an accident. I know she would like to sit somewhere where she could look out the window but for me her safety takes priority. |
We use the my buddy lookout doubled with a dogo harness. It works very well especially with the harness. The straps that came with the carseat were had rather heavy metal clips. They were easy to replace. The dogo harness is great, because of the construction you are able to use the adjustable legnth as a nice lead to attatch to a seatbelt or whatever strap or clip the carseat comes with. Make sure you measure properly before making your purchase. GWlittle has a great demo video on their site www.gwlittle.com. Good luck! |
I didn't know about the accident...that had to be so scary!! Annie is such precious cargo....now she seems to be all secured in! |
