Youngest you've sold a puppy? I know it depends on alot of things when you decide it's time they can go home. depending on you, how well there doing and more. but whats the youngest you've sold yours and what do you think is too young? i think i'm taking chloe and bailey home a little too early. |
How old are they? |
i'm taking them home next friday the 28th and they turn 8 weeks on october first. so 3 days shy of 8 weeks |

people round here let them go at six weeks and that is just plain crazy. i did bring my first yorkie home at eight weeks and he did fair but should have stayed longer. |
Isn't there actually a Law in some States on this? |
I've let one of mine go at 10 weeks ONLY because they were ready, eating on there own, and doing well. Now I've accepted an 8 week old pup ONLY because I knew I could take care of her with my experience and I actually felt she was better off with me. |

I wouldn't want to bring home a puppy before 10 weeks. Lacy was 10 weeks when i got her. I think 12 weeks is best. |
Kai came home from my Uncles when he was only 6 weeks old and he did fine (even being the smallest of his litter):aimeeyork - I have neer had a yorkie before him but we did have 3 Dachshunds and they were all 6weeks old when we got them.. all 4 of our dogs are still alive and healthy.. |
8 weeks might be okay, but they will lose major socialization skills that they would normally get from their litter mates and mother. 10 weeks would be the minimum I'd feel okay with, although I did get a 7 week old puppy before I knew better and she is healthy and fine. |
12 weeks at least is best, in my opinion, but I'm not a breeder... |
We brought our guys home at 14 weeks and 16 weeks old. Before we got them, I never really gave it much thought....That 6-8 weeks seemed to be the norm....Now that we have the boys...I can tell a big difference....They are more secure in themselves- they are healthy- confident- everything you could want and deserve....I would prefer 12-14 weeks.....IMO |
I brought Meka home at 9 wks... And I've read on here about people getting their pups at 6 wks and I too agree thats way to soon... but, 8 wks seems fine, long as he/she is healthy... |
I sell mine between 10-12 weeks too Never Sooner!!!!! But here in Minnesota they sell them from 6-8 weeks I have 16 week old pups right now that were tiny so I have hung on to them a little longer. There Health is what is important to me. But people when they call will go "OH I want a puppy" :thumbdown |

I got both of mine at 8 weeks, and Aubrey was fine. But Dakota was really scared, and sometimes she still shows it. I think it depends on the dog. |
We brought home Sophie at 8 weeks. She was under 1 lb. Everyone that saw her couldn't believe the breeder let her go. I guess small breed dogs usually stay with its mother a little longer. |
