If there weren't Yorkies... What kind of dogs do you all think you would have if not Yorkies?? I had a Border Terrier growing up, and he was great but I think I would have a Westie or maybe a Cairn. I'm definitely a terrier gal! |
Hmmmm I had a chow chow growing up...She was so special to us...And a wonderful dog! So I would say a chow chow |
I have a westie and she is a great dog. Very stubborn though and not as affectionate as a yorkie, but smart, she learns new commands very quickly when I take the time to teach them. I have always been partial to poodles and would probably get a teacup poodle. |
In the past I have had German Shepherds, Golden Retrievers, Cocker Spanials, Shelties and a couple of mixed breeds. In addition to having Mia I have a maltese (Bentley). I love so many different breeds but if yorkies no longer exsisted I might go for a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, an Affenpinscher or a Brussels Griffon. I would also love to own a Newfoundland or a Greyhound. But as long as there are yorkies around...I'm sticking to that breed. |
We have a scottie and an australian shepherd.. They both enjoy playing mommy to baby Rox! |
I've had a pug and now my sweet little yorkie, but if I had the space I would love to get a yellow lab. They just seem like great dogs and good companions. |
I use to have a cocker spaniel, he was the best dog ever. I would also like to get a maltese. |
I would have Pomeranians and Silky Terriers . |
Chihuahuas... I'm definitely a small dog person. |
OMG! Perish the thought! No Yorkies? That would be h***! No other breed would fit the bill, I guess I would just be lonely and miserable the rest of my life! Windy and Lida Rose |
if there weren't yorkies i think the only other thing i would have is a kind of lab or a mutt. mutts are teh only kinds of dogs i've ever had before yorkies infact my older dog now rusty is a big time mutt he is a mix of about everything lol. he is the sweetest dog you could ever meet in your life and i would do anything for him. |
If I didn't have a yorkie I'd have to go to the rescue and see what I fell in love with next - only requirement I would have is it would have to be 10-20lb and get on well with my other dog. |
No Yorkies  well if there was no such breed I would have to say I would still have maltese. |
Well, in addition to Gracie the yorkie, we have Sampson the Maltese. He is just a white, smaller version of Gracie. Absolutely adorable. He is five months old and 5.5 pounds and has the sweetest personality. Gracie, aka, The Princess Amazing Grace of Greystone, is really a princess and very high maintenance. Picky, pouty, wants all the attention and lets you know it. Sam is just as happy as a clam all the time and just goes with the flow. I would choose another Maltese, that is, if I could not have a yorkie, but yorkies have this mama's heart through and through. |
Oh my gosh...I don't even know. I had a german Shepherd when I was younger and i just think they are so beautiful! If not a Shepherd then I would have a mutt with longish hair. You know like a Benji dog. I had one while growing up and he was an amazing friend/pet. He was my childhood best friend. |
This is easy for me. I have always had an odd obsession with Basset Hounds and have recently seen a Newfoundland that I feel in love with. So these are the 3 dogs I'd like to have in my life. Yorkie Basset Hound New Foundland (I want it as big as it gets!) The latter 2 will be well into the future when I have a big house and a big yard. But I am sure I'll always have a Yorkie. They are just way too much fun! :aimeeyork |
I've actually had this discussion before because my husband and I were thinking of a 3rd dog but he likes to vary things up and even though he loves our Yorkie and our Maltese he doesn't want to compare them to another one of that breed so he'd want to try a different breed. I think he likes researching everything about a new breed and then getting to know that kind of dog. We settled on a Papillon, Japanese Chin, or a Cavalier King Charles for our future 3rd.. although I think that will have to be way off in the future.. 2 are a handful! :p |

other breeds I sure liked the looks of the golden, red Austrailian Terrier I saw on TV at Crufts. The English have a number of terriers that look interesting to me..we do not have those breeds here in the USA. |
Miniature Schnauzer. They're not as portable as Yorkies, but I love them. |

If I could handle a big dolg, I would probably get a Newfie or a St. Bernard. They are just so loving even though they are huge. But, I don't think I could handle all of the drool, etc. So I would have to stick with smaller dogs. I love terriers like the Cairn and the Australian terrier. I also love English Bull Dogs. My Aunt has one named Bubba. He drools a lot, but he is small. He is so cute! |
I would probably have a maltese! They're so small, white and adorable.. like a big giant huggable snowflake. lol |
Chihuahuas. We had them from the time I was little and they had such sweet personalities and loved to play. Since I was a kid many of those years, that suited me just fine! :D We always had big dogs, too, as I was growing up. The smartest and nicest was half german shepherd and I think the other half was collie??? was a wonderful dog. |
If there were no yorkies, I would probably have wanted a pomeranian. My mom has two and they are great... Actually, if there were no yorkies than my HUSBAND would have had his pick and we'd have a bull terrier... That's the breed he wanted. |
I would want a poodle but my husband doesn't like them so I doubt I would be able to get one. Maybe a pomerainian. |
I grew up with doxie so maybe one of those. But for awhile I was thinking about getting a border collie. I thought I might get one about 5-10 years from now. However, my border collie came sooner than I thought so now I have a border collie. |
