Question? I started this thread http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/sho...ight=concerned well since then i got the results back and it was negative... I was suppose to take him back for a recheck friday but i had to go out of town with my mom for her brain doctor appt. Do you guys think i should take him back to the vet for a recheck??? She couldn't really tell me anything the first time . she said she didnt know what it was thats why she sent off the culture. but it doesn't seem to be getting better. it looks like its spreading. its really bothering me. if anyone might have had experience with that type of thing. will you please tell me what you think it is? and should i take him back to the vet to see if she can try to figure it out for the second time? i owe 56.00 from the first visit. im on disability so they let me make payments. |
anyone??? |
I would always take him back to the vet if you are uncomfortable and feel like it might be spreading. I haven't had any experience with this type of hair loss, but I'm sure someone on here might and can help. Sorry for not being too much help, but keep us posted. My vote is to take him back if it isn't getting better. |
Update Ok I just got back from the vet.. She looked at him and said well hmm it doesn't look any worse and i said well it doesn't look better.. it's actually spreading to the other side and i showed her and she said hmm yep sure is.. she said she thinks he is losing his puppy coat and his new coat is coming in. i said i thought originally when i first saw it thats what it may have been. i also asked her if its possible he could be allergic to grass. he has very thin hair especially on his legs so anyway. she gave him a cortisone shot. and gave me some vitamins for his skin to help put some oil back. cause he has dry skin. he is to take one a day. i cut the end off and put on food. its called: Skin Formula 3V Caps a concentrated Dietary Supplement containing fish oil,a source of omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids plus vitamins a d & e she told me to bring him back in a month and try to keep him off the grass LOL yeah right... thanks everyone for your responses |
Sometimes it takes several tests to find a problem, so follow-ups are important. If your just not comfortable with the Vet. then ask around to see if there may be one who is highly recommended. |
In my opinion, the hair is not just falling out for no reason. it's strange that it's only in one spot too. It has to be something. so i'd get a recheck!! |
oh i like our vet. she is the best. we only have 2 in our town. the other one is horrible. i guess it's just one of those things she hasn't seen before? because she didn't know what it was exactly. she thinks he is losing his puppy hair and adult hair coming in. |
Sounds like the vet is willing to work with you, so I'd bring him back in. |
i did take him back in. see above :) i attached the original thread with a picture of what it looks like. its starting to go to the left side as well. the vet today said she thinks he is losing his puppy hair and adult hair is coming in. she gave him a cortisone shot and gave me vitamins to help put the oil back in his coat. cause he is so dry and itchy. please read the first original thread attached. so you understand better thanks |
