Having to leave puppy home while at work... So Ive been working from home since I got Lola and shes 10 months old now, so shes been pretty spoiled! I do leave her when I have to go out occasionally for events, think the longest has been around 8 hours. If I know Im going to be gone for a long time I put her in the kitchen, she has her food, water and toys, but not enough room to get into alot of trouble, and she never goes to the bathroom in there. And if Im only going to be gone a few hours I put her in her crate. But now Im starting a new job, and I will probably be gone anywhere from 9-10 hours a day, and may or may not be able to come home for lunch all the time. Any tips or suggesstions? I feel so awful...but someone has to pay for all the vet bills and cute outfits!! :) Thanks for your help! |
I think leaving her in the kitchen would be your best bet. She's already use to that and it won't feel unfamiliar to her. |
The Kitchen is the best solution, Koda stays there as well but most of the time I leave her loose and she is a good girl, I do get times to come and check up on her and she seems fine...In the afternoon I do make it up to her and take her for long walks, that way we both get the exercise. Good Luck & congratulations with the new job:thumbup: |
i leave morgan in an ex-pen while i'm at work for 9 hours during the week. she does great in there. I think the kitchen will be fine for your pup. she's used to it and hopefully you won't have any accidents |
I'd leave her in the kitchen as the other posters suggested as well. She will get used to it, just be aware of all the energy and hyperactivity when you get back :D . I have to leave Pepper for about 10 hours every day too :( unfortunately, got a new (much more demanding hourwise) job a month ago and he adjusted to it. He has a kitchen and our bedroom to himself, it's weird but he would have an accident when we're home but never when he's alone  . I take him for hour-long walks when I get back and that helps. Good luck! |
