my yorkie pup My Yorkie is now 5 1/2 mos and he still doesn't lift his leg to pee? At what age do they start? He is not quite house trained. He goes outside but also in. I have a wee wee pad down but he seems to prefer the floor, even though I have sprayed the pad with stuff that is supposed to make them go on--- when he does go on it, he misses a lot. |

they usually start lifting their leg about seven months and then still sometimes they squat. I had a male pup start lifting his leg at 12 weeks only because he was following his daddy around everywhere:p |

I was watching something on tv when I first got Kodak a fews years ago which made me inquire with breeders and they said all males should squat. They said you can tell a dog whose owner waited to late to get them neutered or not neutered at all because they lifted their legs. I never understood it. I spoke to some vets who said males mark territories by lifting their legs and that they should squat. Anyone heard of this? |

Cody is going on 9 months and he has lifted his leg only twice. |

I would be glad he hasn't lifted his leg yet. When I get a male on day he's getting neutered as early as possible so he hopefully won't ever lift the leg. |

My boys used to squat but one day my husband was walking them and Spyro lifted his leg( they were neutered by 5 1/2 months olds) and he encouraged it:eek: . I was so mad, i want my boys to be squatters :cry2: I would say enjoy that he is still a squatter..I think it makes them look like young pups no matter how old they are. |

Tucker is almost 8 months and he still squats. I prefer it because then it doesn't get everywhere...plus, it's really cute! |

Diggy has beed hiking for about a month now and heis 6 months old. My female Bella lifts her leg so he may be following her footsteps?? |

That's one thing you don't want to look forward too, because then they really start marking their territory in your house.:lol tears |

My Rowdy has lifted his leg since he was very very young - he is not neutered. Rexy on the other hand, was neutuered at 6 mo. and he squated till he was over a year old. I think he was about 14 months, when all of a sudden, he started lifting his leg. He still lifts at 19 months, although he does squat rarely, but occasionally. Oh and when Rexy started "lifting", he would squat and lift at the same time - quite a sight! :) |
