Yt'rs with a male & Female, Help me puhleeze!
 

Those of you with a male and female yorkie, I need some advice on what to do today. Kodak (3yrs old) is neutered but Kamari (9mths old) may be going into her 1st heat. My money got funny with my daughter leaving for college so I postponed her spay till Oct. I'm told to look for blood spots but don't see any yet. She is not as energetic and lays in my lap, plays with Kodak for a minute then lays down.:( Well, I assume it's coming because Kodak, who normally won't give her the time of day unless he wants to play, is sniffing around her.:mad: Just like a male when they want "some" they act nice.:rolleyes: Normally he's growling or hiding from her, now he's sniffing her butt. He's even laying by her right now and this morning he kept going behind her trying to hump her.:eek:
I'm online pricing doggy diapers now and I had to put a wrap on Kodak to make him sit the hellyell down. I have somewhere to go today, I can't leave her here for him to keep harrassing her for her cookie.:eek: What do I need to do and how long does the heat last and will there be blood to clean up. I can lock him out the room at night, but I have to leave during the day.

Heat is 7 days in, 7 days bleeding, 7 days out. Penny is going through her first heat now, and although there's blood you can barely see it. She's keeping herself clean, and yes my neutered males keep sniffing her. All she wants to do is be on my lap and be petted, so see you're not alone on this one.

Okay, so 7days total right? I just want to let my mom and grandmother know, because they come to the house to walk them for me. Do I need to keep them seperated or just keep a diaper on her? She looks like she's actually running from him and not having fun playing trying to keep away from him. I don't want Kodak to take her little cookie, she will be a virgin for life If I can help it.:thumbup:

Diasy was swollen for about 7 days she bled for 14 days it's different for each female

Ok, I get it now, it's at the most 21 days. I need to leave out the house and Kodak keeps chasing her around so I don't want to leave them alone. If I take her with me especially in the pet store, will other male dogs know she's in heat and possible come after me? She will be in a carrier, I just don't want to leave her here and my moms gone to.

Well technically it's the least for 21 days they can go longer. Yes other dogs will smell her in heat so you must be prepared and never let her down you must also hold her securly because she might want to get them too lol

OMG! Amber, that explains why the caged dogs 4 buildings down the block are barking like fools lwhile ooking our way.:eek: She has been real defensive against Kodak, he keeps sniffing her butt and I make him stop. I went to Petco and bought a bluejean padded diaper for $14.95 and some tiny puppy pads (like kotex) lol that go inside the diaper. I am going to order a cuter looking diaper from a YT member. I didn't know they were so expensive but I should've bought them a long time ago. I don't know what I'm going to do tomorrow when I go to work.:confused: My mom will come to check on them, but Kamari can't wear this diaper all day in the house, or can she?
After she is spayed, will that be the end of the heat like periods?

After she is spayed she will no longer bleed.
If your male is neutered and has been for a while, he cannot get her pregnant. He may 'mount' her but won't tie with her.
He won't take her virginity:eek: . She smells very interesting thats all.

If she's in a diaper all day, she can't clean herself and possible for infection. I'd just keep her in a large crate or locked in the bathroom with pee pads...and your male in another room (locked) in the house.

Be prepared for howling and whining from your male...at all hours of the night!

A typical spay will remove the uterus and ovaries...though I've heard of some leaving the ovaries for the hormones. With that said, no uterus, no bleeding or heat cycles.

I know he can't get her pregnant, I don't want him to mount her at all. I figured he can still try to take her virginity.:eek: She's 9 months and I don't want him to "poke" her.:( He's been staying away since the diaper is on her, I do have it off while I'm around them. This is her 2nd day so for the next 21 days, she will have to stay with my mom. To lock Kodak up, he will scratch and whine all day and my neighbors will complain. I'm assuming they won't spay until the heat cycle is up, so I will get it done next month.

I doubt she would let him 'poke' her if she isn't ready. Once she is flagging she is ready.
They are dogs and dogs will hump each other even if no one is in season. Mine like to hump their toys sometimes. Usually it's a dominance thing.

If I'm not mistaken, Dallas was around 8 months old when London came into heat. It was horrible. He could smell her and would howl, cry, whimper, bark...flipping drive you nuts...even in the middle of the night! I was so glad when she came out of heat...once she was out, everything was quiet and back to normal.

They will wait longer than a month to spay her. Sammy was coming out of her first heat when we got her. They made us wait 8 weeks.

I think London's heat is just now starting to go away. Her's has lasted for like a month and some change. It has been nonstop Teddy chasing her, trying to hump her, aggrivating her and she won't have it. She growls and fights back which makes him stare at her and bark madly and then he will "sweet talk" her by licking her ears and giving her kisses and then try to hump her. It's hilarious to watch but she has diapers on and so does he. At first it was so hard to control, but when i am gone i keep them separated. He was even at my bf's house for like 3 weeks getting so spoiled by his parents but when they left he had to come back and London's heat still didn't go away. Can you leave Kodak in another room while you're gone? Also she bled only for like a week or 2, the other days i guess it was just clear, she always licks herself.
