Any advice on Doggie Hotels? Hello to all Yorkie Talkers: I'm not sure if this topic has ever been addressed, but I need some sound advice fast! ...my family will be taking several trips over the summer. The first trip will be to a wedding in North Carolina for several days. My inlaws are hosting the reception. They have a type of Bed and Breakfast . My Dilemna is whether or not to take Comet with us to the wedding. I don't want to impose on my inlaws, especially since they are hosting the wedding, however, I cannot imagine leaving him, but I may have no other choice. The other trip is a vacation trip with just my husband and kids. We are definitely taking Comet on the vacation trip. What are your thoughts on pet hotels? Have any of you tried one. I am so afraid of Comet developing kennel cough or some other type of illness as a result of staying in a kennel, not to mention the separation anxiety. Can someone please offer some sound advice  |
Hi, I had posted this info on another thread some time ago. I thought I would let everyone know that there is a site that covers united states with a list of hotels or motels that welcomes all pets! Some will have a small charge (10 -15.00) most of them don't charge at all some even offer doggie sitters should you want to go to dinner etc.. we have always used this service because we use to have to find sitters (family members) to stay if we needed to leave town for weddings, business etc.. Kennels was never an option!!! and your trip is much more enjoyable knowing your babys are with you and safe! this site is great and I think everyone should keep this site in their favorites for all your traveling adventure. It's a great aset to all pet owners.. http://petswelcome.com/milkbone/map.html also some other sites.. http://www.petfriendlyhotelsandtravel.com/ http://www.pettravel.com/passports_airlinetrtips.cfm |
Dear jbarile: Thank you soooooo much. These sites are invaluable. The only problem is that we will be staying with my inlaws at the bed and breakfast. Not a hotel. |
If I were you, I would just ask your in laws. Just tell them that he is very small and he is no trouble at all. Explain to them how great of a dog he is and that they won't even know he is there. Maybe you could have them meet him first so that they can fall in love with him. LOL There are very few people who can resist a Yorkie. :D |

Thanks Guys for all of your help: I have decided that we will be taking him with us. :D The stress and worry of wondering whether or not he will be in good hands will drive me crazy!!! He is coming with us and the family welcomes him. |
