Your so right. I flew to TN. to get Zada and then paid to have the breeders friend fly Zada's 1st cousin (Azrael) out here. Seems everything here in CA. is terribly expensive.

Pretty dogs but very strange site. She says she ALWAYS has AT LEAST one litter of puppies born a month. She shows 4 breeding females and one of them is only 7 months old and one is 11 months. How is she getting a litter a month? Also what the h*ll does this mean: "WE have 1 litter due

I'm certainly not defending that breeder but much ado is made about smaller bitches having pups. It all depends on the bitch. I have a 3.5 pound female that we kept from one of our litters but not to breed. Sure enough one our males nailed her in less than one minute, and I'm not making that up. They were hosed down right away but she got pregnant. It certainly wasn't by our choice. Because she was so small, I made arrangements for a C-section on July 13th but the morning of the 10th I woke up to one pup, still in the sack but not living. About 3 hours later she began delivering a second one, breach. He didn't make it. Less than a half an hour later she had another coming breach and I rushed her to the vet. When he pulled back the towel, there was another little boy already out, whom we call Li' T because he was the third one and weighed 3 ounces. The other two were 4 ounces each. To say we were shocked, not only by the number of pups but by their size, is an understatement. And she did it all on her own. My 6 pound bitches have pups that weigh that much at birth. Lil' T wouldn't nurse for 2 days so I hand feed him but by Friday, the 13th, the day they should have been born, he began to nurse. He is now 9 weeks old. The bottom line is problems can arise with any delivery, regardless of the size of the bitch.

Point made and noted. MY point is the PURPOSEFUL use of tiny dogs (of ANY breed) to mass produce teenie tiny dogs. Your instance was NOT purposeful - I know that accidents happen, and that lots of litters have tiny pups (runts, if you will). I am so happy to know that your bitch made it through whelping, and at least one of the pups :)

Did anyone else notice in her little bio on the front page of her website she talks about the yorkies she breeds, and says like twice "not the standard"..If I'm going to pay $6G for a dog, it better be w/in AKC standard!!!

i agree that this is a truly ignorant statement. i bought romeo for $600 and he is perfect! if she had said you could not buy one "in this area of the country" for that price then i would not have a problem with that at all because what doesn't cost a fortune in CA! but to say it is not possible ANYWHERE is very wrong!

True, but the risk is greatly decreased when you have a bitch that is a healthy, larger size for breeding. (Not to mention some knowledge and experience with what you are doing.) It's a much more minimal risk than breeding such a small female.
I realize it wasn't intentional and accidents happen, as you found out. Your small female's case is a good example: Sure, she whelped one by herself that survived, but there were complications and it had to be hand fed. There were two who didn't make it, your girl was on the verge of having to have a c-section. So in the end, it was not smooth and easy. :(

Why would anyone take a greater risk that could end that way on purpose?!

Why is it that I see so many people on this site that are mad because a breeder asks what a dog is worth? Breeders are breeders for 2 reasons: because they love the breed and want to further it, and they are MAKING A LIVING!!!! On the west coast is is rare to see a yorkie from good lines (champion within 3 generations) for less than $1500, even for pet quality. Please people, stop saying how bad breeders are for asking what their stock is worth. There is a well known breeder in Oregon that doesn't ask any less than $3500 for any of her stock, so enough already!!!

I think alot of people are really missing what i was saying... the comment the lady made was that you cant get a good quality DOG unless you spend thousand... not just a yorkie but the statement was refering to any dog. I dont understand how anybody can say that a dog is not good "quality" unless you spend thousands... Who made her the one in charge of deciding wheather or not a dog is a quality dog. And she didnt say show quality... because that would have made a little more sense... she said quality.. I wrote this lady an angry letter and she responded by appoligizing and then saying that she was just very upset that someone had stolen her dogs picture... then she went on to say "I was offerd 8 thousand for that dog and turned it down" She just sounds like a show off.... And for someone to charge MORE money the smaller the dog, is just ridiculous! She boasts about her 2 lb dogs that she sells for thousand and thousands... my bailey is 1.9lbs full grown and my breeder did not charge any more for her than she did for her other regular sized litter mates....
