A couple questions about yorkies... What is the average life expectancy for a yorkie? i would usually be longer than a bigger dog right? i think i heard smaller ones tend to live longer. I know when there born there usually all black....what colors could they turn when they get older? Thanks. |
Life expectancy varies. I heard of some that live 12 yrs and have heard of some live to 19 yrs. Colors vary also. Blue and gold, black and tan,tan and silver are some variations. You never know what your going to get with a yorke |

My last yorkie lived 16 years. She was pretty healthy girl and she went heaven while she was sleeping. :) My other yorkie lived around that long as well. I can't be sure because I had to give her up due to moving to US.... Color will be vary, but all 3 I had/have changed to lighter color, like silver/tan/gold from mostly black. Very cute no matter what color!!! |
Expected life span of a Yorkie is 15yrs. All Yorkies are born black and tan. Coats change as they get older. Colors are blk, tan/ blk, gold/ blue, tan/ blue, gold. Some turn silver as they mature. They are all pretty. |
ok thanks.....i cant wait to see what color chloe turns.....it's really exciting waiting. thanks again. |
Potty training my Yorkie Hi, I'm new to the site and new to Yorkies. We are getting our first little Yorkie pup tomorrow. I've read up on litter training and I think that is the way to go for us since we live in the Chicagoland area and the winters can be brutal. However, we do have another dog who goes to the bathroom outside. My question is can a Yorkie be trained to go to the bathroom in more than one place? Like once he is litter trained in the house will he also know that it is ok to potty outside with the big dog, or if he were to go out it public with us will he be able to potty in the grass and not be confused when he gets back in the house? Thanks, Laurie |
Can you post a picture of her. |
are you asking me or someone else? |
questions My first Champion passed away this year and he was 16 1/2 yrs. I have had several live until 17..none past that age..but most leave me around 13 to 14 yrs. AKC lists the age to be 12 / 13 yrs...but many things can be factored in..spay/neutered live the longest on average, ones who have regular dental care, adds years. Bad teeth and gums can produce bacteria that damages the heart and kidneys... |
