allergies i took Roman to the vet today because for the last couple days romans has been throwing up and not eating too much. well this along with itching and licking has led my vet to think Roman has allergies. Roman has also been babying a paw that my vet said could be because hes licking it too much, also which could be allergy related. so im to give him benedryal (sp?) twice a day and call the vet back in a week to tell them if Romans symptoms are better. im hoping is it just allergies, and not something seriously wrong. i have allergies so i know how miserable my baby must be, but it could be worse. i hope his are just seasonal/environmental and not food. i know theres some babies on here with food allergies and they are so limited to what they can eat. Roman is waaaay to picky for that lol. does anyone have any good tips for giving the benedryal?? i gave him some in a dropper but he did not like it at all. i tried to get as much in his mouth as i could but hes a squirmy little thing lol... |
I give Cali Benydryl for her allergies, which doesn't help much. I hold on to her topnot so she can't move much and syringe it in. |
anyone have a way to give him the benedryl?? hes too squirmy and needs to be tricked or something lol! please help! |

I have been giving Bailey childrens Benodryl for 2 years twice a year when he starts the itching (which seems to be his only sign of allergies) I get the cherry kind and put it right on his food and he usually eats it right up.. if he doesn't I put something good on it also maybe chicken broth or cottage cheese something to make him eat it up. How much benodryl did your vet say to give? How often? |
One of my schnauzers has allergies and I give her children's benedryl with a syringe. Makes it alot easier. If they will take it mixed in food that would be great. She always seems to know when I'm trying to put something over on her. They have a new bubble gum flavor too. She likes that. |
the kind i have is the childrens cherry flavor. im supposed to give 1ml twice a day. so far ive tried having mixing it in peanut butter which he licked a couple times then didnt want anymore, mixing it into some food (tuna and eggs) which he didnt eat, and i waited until he was almost asleep and opened his lips and squeezed it in which got some in there but alot just ended up on the couch. yesterday is the first day i gave him the benedryl so ill probably need to experiment more but he hasnt been eating a lot lately do its difficult just to get him to eat anything. romans been eating so many different kinds of foods because im tyring to find something he likes so he probably has had corn in something lately. vet and i are seeing if the benedryl will work then if it doesnt we will have to look into it being food allergies. so right now were assuming/hoping its only an environmental thing. ill probably try the cottage cheese later tonight so we'll how that goes... |
