Two milestones in one day - there is hope!! Just like babies, I love puppies. But just like my kids, I enjoy the later stages too. In fact, I'm ready to move past puppyhood. We're now at 6 1/2 months and newly neutered. Today, we had two milestones!! First, Coby asked to be picked up, held, and cuddled - for more than 45 seconds! Usually he doesn't slow down enough for that. I did NOTHING but hold him until he was done, I loved it so much! We are also trying to expand his territory out of the tiled kitchen. It's been either on leash (easier to catch when running from a squat) or with pants or belly bands on. A few days ago, we started trying without anything except our VERY watchful eyes and trips either outside or to the potty pad every 40 minutes or so. Tonight at 11:49pm, Coby left the living room ALL BY HIMSELF AND WENT BACK TO HIS POTTY PAD AND POOPED, then came back to the living room and barked at me to tell me he did (I was on YT and not paying attention - I'm so ashamed). I thought this day would never come. I just wanted to share the moment - I am soooo excited!! :cheer: |
Awww congratulations! I know you're a proud momma :) |
Yay - this is fun news. Great stuff ! I find each stage they go through is so exciting too! Mine are now 3 yrs. and still amaze me. They are just like human kids growing up. Have fun. He needs a gold star on the fridge:star: |
Congrats! Good boy Coby! :) |
they are so smart!!! Quote:
and she also "tattles" on Friday ... and here, I thought it was unique ... I have got to admit, these Yorkies are so smart .... Monday has shunned her piddle pad since Friday entered our lives 7 months ago She chooses her own place, sadly .... However, she does come and tell me so I can pick it up ... You have one smart little pup there ... |
Way to go. Congratulations. |
Congratulations on that milestone, that is something to celebrate. I'd imagine though that there may still be a mistake or two down the line; he's still young. My Lexie at 1 yr still has an accident from time to time; she usually does her business outside. My other yorkie Lucky rarely (if ever) has an accident. He's always been really good about going outside; in fact that's about all he goes outside for - that and walks. Otherwise he's more of house dog. Lexie loves to go outside and PLAY; maybe that's why she has an accident now and then. She plays outside and forgets to do the other. She is a lovey dog though. She'll get up on our laps and just lay her head down on our chest or shoulder and just cuddle with us. I absolutely love that! |
Thanks everyone for sharing my success!! Yep, MyFairLacy and Saphire - A BIG gold star, and I am SO proud. And Monday - you're right - they're smart alright! He has asked me again this morning to pick him up and cuddle! Okay, if he truly does turn out to be the cuddler I had hoped, I will most likely get nothing done the rest of his life!! And if he's smart like my kids were, he'll learn that good behavior gets him WHATEVER he wants!! And Luckylady, siiigghhh, I know that I'll get more accidents. In fact, today I'm watching him like a hawk because, like my kids, I expect him to prove me wrong whenever I brag on him!! :D  I'm just so in love...... |
YAY! Congrats! It is a great feeling isnt it? I have been letting Turbo have more roaming area too, and he now has the kitchen and dining area all to himself and his big brother when we are not around...and NO accidents! He goes back to the pad and potties and poos when he needs to! I hope I can let him have free roam minus the bedrooms soon! |
