warning about q-tips Hubby had laid a couple of qtips on our deck table to use on some tiny stripping made on labor day and he left one and apparently it blew off on the deck. Well, apparently maggie found it (its the kind with the plastic and cotton ends), and she had to chew it and swallow the plastic. maybe it got hung and she couldnt spit it out but it got into her. She was so sick and threw up 10 or so times Thursday night. matter of fact, hubby finally got down in the floor about 1:30 am and laid down on the rug and had put her in her little bed petting her as I was cleaning up places all over the kitchen where she had just stopped and threw up when we saw her. She finally was just throwing up white thick stuff and almost was choking on it, it was so thick. I gave her some nutrical a few times and she finally quit and we went on to bed. Friday she seemed to be ok, but maybe not feeling quiet up to par but she ate good. This morning he came in and said he and maggie was on the deck and she farted, lol, and it smelled horrible and he put her down and noticed she ran out into the yard and pooped and he said he almost gagged and went out to ck to see about her as she was dragging her behind when he noticed something white in her poop and he said it looked like a qtip. so he got it out with a stick and cked it and sure enough, it was a qtip she had eaten and I bet thats what made her so sick thursday and he thinks it blocked her bowels and couldnt get it out. I had given her a bath yesterday, and now I gave her another and she is so much more lively. So Please, Please, if you use the plastic /cotton qtips, be careful . I keep everything picked up off the floors to make sure she dont get the wrong thing in her mouth here. I figured she must of gotten something from the yard that didnt agree with her. He never leaves things in the floor either so the qtip had to blow off the table after he came in or when he wasnt looking. I'm just glad her poo smelled so bad it made him ck it to see what could of made anything smell that bad. he said hes never smelled anything that bad but maybe some dead animal after it laid somewhere after dying for a few days. gawd, thats bad. sorry this is a long post. |
im soo sorry! im glad she is okay now and thanks for the warning! |
I'm so glad Maggie is okay. Thanks for the warning. I would probably not have thought of something blowing off the table, but that could happen very easily!! |
Glad your baby is ok. Thanks for the warning, mu husband and dtr use them a lot |
Thanks for the warning. I caught Rebel with one about a week ago. The little stinker turned over the trash can in the bathroom and took off with it:D I had to chase him down to take it away from him and he's a little speed demon! |
I am so glad that she is feeling better. Thanks for the warning, these babies get into everything and they are faster than we are! |
Thanks for the warning. I would have never imagined that a Q-Tip could cause all of that. I'm glad your baby is okay! |
Glad your lil one is alright....This is good information to know....thank you for sharing with us.. |
Thanks for the warning! We have to always double check the bathroom floor and make sure theres no qtips, if Bella finds them they become her new chew toys! I never let her play with them because their not chew toys, but I never knew they could become so sick from it! I'm glad your baby is doing O.K though. That sucks she got so ill from it :( |
So glad Maggie is okay!! My girls love to eat the Q-tips out of the tipped over trash can!! But, we only buy the standard ones, not plastic. We've never had a problem with those ones. |
I saw a dog on a rescue site that had like 20 Qtips in it's stomach. Im gonna find the pic and post it. |
thanks all, i'm glad Maggie is ok now too. But thats the only thing we can find that possibly made her sick because she hasnt had anything to eat from us that she hasnt always had. anyway, just a warning in case anyone does use the plastic stick qtips. ever since she pooped that out now tonight she is feeling great and running around about like she usually does. she just doesnt run around a lot. lol |
OH no! Well I'm glad everything's alright with Maggie now. :( Poor thing..shows we [and hubbies] can never be too careful. |
How old is MAggie. I am a new Yorkie puppy owner and my Emma (5 months) likes to get into everything!!! I wonder if that wears off or will she always be like that. I know that Yorkies are micheveous and that is one of the things I like about her but I have 3 young boys and they are always leaving stuff on the floor and I worry about it. I am soooooo glad she is ok. i would have really freaked out. it is also a great thing it passed and she did not need surgery. Have a great weekend |
Oh no; now q-tips are a danger. I'm so glad your puppy is alright. We have to be so careful. |
