SirHumpsalot? I have a boy yorkie, Punkn', and he sure humps a LOT. I have never seen a dog do that before. Is it safe to make him stop or should I just let him do it? It is weird because when he goes to the restroom he will not go when someone is looking, but when it comes to this behaviour he will do it in front of any and everybody! I have not got him neutered because I am debating on whether or not I am going to let my friend (who has been breeding maltese for years but has been wanting to start a line of Yorkshire Terrier) stud him or not. For those who have un-neutured (sp?) males, how do you deal with this? |
Well Diggy went thru phases of it as he matured. at 12 weeks he humped everything!! I turned my head and let him go....then he stopped doing it :D Then at 4 months he started it again... and again as much as I cold I turned my head. Now he is 6 months intact and never does it?? Its very normal and somehting thats within them they cant help it! DOes make it an prettier does it??? lol Good luck with mr humpalot I called Diggy the Humpmeister :p |
yeah im going through that. Cody is 6 months not yet neutered. and he humps his stuffed toys and pillow. i just try to turn my head and let him go. but like the above poster said it sure doesnt make it any prettier lol |
Turbo did it all through puppy stages to now, a 13month old guy. He mostly only humps his big brother Chance...at first I thought it was a dominance thing, now I am wondering about these two! He still goes for big brother when he gets the chance (no pun intended) hah. It might just be his 'thang'. |
I don't think there is anything you can do about it, and I think it's perfectly normal. |
Mizzhumpsalot 1 Attachment(s) I own Mizzhumpsalot. Nice to meet you SirHumpsalot. Zoey is 6 months old. Since she was about 3 and 1/2 months, she has humped her white rabbit almost daily. Now she has started making a "noise" when she does it. I think it is a dominance thing. She usually beats the rabbit half to death before she "loves" him. Her Rabbit is really creepy because it has a baby's face, but I would feel bad getting rid of it. |
if i had a dog that humped i would stop the behavior. when they start to do it startle him (squirt bottle or loud noise) out of it and tell him no. think about it, if this were a larger dog that was doing this would you allow the behavior? i know i wouldn't, so why would you let a small dog do it? |
Huh-oh. I didnt think it was such a bad thing. Am I a bad Mommy guys? I let Zoey do lots of things I wouldn't let a big dog do. Kiss me, sleep on my pillow, lay on the back of my couch, bathe in my sink...She pretty much does whatever she wants as long as she is not hurting herself or anyone else. |
My boys sometimes hump (17 months + 6 months, both neutered). I just let them get on with it. It honestly does not bother me, they get a toy or blanket sometimes and give it a little love. They are well behaved and don't do it that often so for me its just not an issue. |
I can't help it..... I can't help it....I think it is so funny when The Higster humps! He humped his white baby blanket when we brought him home at 8 weeks old. Only the white baby blanket, not the exactly-the-same blue blanket. Tired the little guy right out. Then he stopped after a few months. But occasionally humps his teddy bear now that he's three. Gotta tell ya the funniest humping story: I used to have a little 4 lb Chihuahua female dog and a huge female Maine Coon Cat. Both ladies were spayed. And they enjoyed a very active sex life humping each other!!! Talk about the odd couple! I also had a wonderful poodle/terrier mix for years who was the town slut! She was spayed but loved tying up with any and all comers! She especially loved Roosevelt, the aged Dachshund two doors down from us. Kept him lively for years. We had spent big bucks at our Darien, CT, vet to have Raggedy Ann spayed, so I called him up and asked him if he "got it all" when he spayed her. He assured me that he had and that some dogs just liked to have sex! "After all," he said, "you wouldn't want to give up sex if you had a hysterectomy!" :D |
I don't think there's a problem w/humping! Whenever friends or family ask me how my Tobi is doing, I always reply with: "He's HUMPTASTIC!" They get a little grossed out, but eh :P Tobi started humping at 3 months and hasn't looked back since. We're getting him neutered at the end of this month, so, hopefully the humping will still continue as he is a very amourous little guy :P haha |
:animal-pa My Wynstn who is 2 1/2 years old, humps, usually when he knows that we are leaving. And yes it is his blankets. He will drag them to his favorite spot and go to it after bunching them up. My 14 year old yorkie, never humped, so go figure:confused: Wynstn has not been fixed and the older one has. When we take corky the older one to get his hair done, Wynstn won't leave him alone for about 3 days we don't understand why only at this time, its almost as if Wynstn thinks it is a new dog. |
