Hairy Ears 2 Attachment(s) Trevor is 8 mos and he had one ear that didn't stand until he was 5 mo. old. I always kept the ears shaved so they would stand up. I love the way some of the yorkies on here have "hairy" ears with the little wispy hairs, so I've decided to let the hair grow long. Now that the hair is getting longer, even though I do have the back 1/3 shaved, his ear wants to get floppy when he's tired or relaxed. When something peaks his interest, he will hold them both up. I've said all this to ask this question.... Should I clip all the hair off and give that ear muscle time to strengthen or should I keep it like it is and make him strengthen the muscle by having to work at holding it up. Thanks for any input... Cyndie Trevor's Mom |
1 Attachment(s) He is so CUTE !! I trim ONLY the top third of the ear - inside and out - The long hair I leave alone is connected to their head mostly and the tips of the ear is shaved for a cleaner look....I looked and read LOTS of articles back when I first got Chanel and this is the normal way to groom the ears...I think you could just trim his little ears at the tip and he should be fine... Here's a pic of both girls and their ears after a trim about 2 weeks ago... |
1 Attachment(s) I don't do anything to the outside of Baby's ears. I like them with all the hair. Her ears stand up with no problem. The only hair I remove from her ears is in the inside. Here is a few pics of her crazy hairy ears! :D Baby ear hair picture #1 This is what Baby's ears looked like when I first got her. They had been shaved by the breeder to help them stand. I guess it worked well because they are doing well! Baby little Shaved ears |
