So I have a question... Keely became a woman tonight if ya get my drift and me being a guy I am a little fuzzy on how all of "that" works. Not so much for humans, but for dogs. How long will she have her visit from her Aunt Flow and like with women does it come monthly? It came on so sudden and we were a bit unprepared and the only place open at this hour is Meijer (24 Hour store kinda like Target) and there selection of pet stuff is crap. The best option for the night was to get her some premature baby diapers cause that fit her weight category. Tomorrow we will head to the pet store and get the right stuff. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what is most comfortable for dogs as far as diaper options cause these baby diapers look like torture for her. She is walking around as if she has a hunch back. Also if anyone can drop me some info on this whole thing that would be awesome too. |
For yorkies, they usually have their period about twice a year. Sometimes it will be 6 months in between sometimes 9 months etc, it is different with every dog. There will actually be only one week where she will actually be bleeding, sometimes a little longer but it won't be heavy bleeding. This is the first week of their heat cycle. The heat cycle lasts for about 3 weeks. The second week is when she will accept a male and the third she will be going out of heat. So for a good 3-4 weeks you will have to keep a close eye on her and that she isn't near any male dogs. A male dog can smell a female in heat from a mile away and will try anything to get to her. As for diapers, they have doggy diapers out. I think the ones in pet stores are bulky and uncomfortable from them. There are several members here who make them and I think they are the most comfortable for them. All you have to do is put a pad in the diaper and replace it with a clean one when it becomes dirty. Hope this helps, I think I answered all your questions. |
I just had to buy aurora a little denim diaper from petsmart. At first she sat and walked funny and tried to take it off. Later that night she was adjusted to it and was perfectly fine. I would have perferred to be able to buy her a cute one like i seen on some of the sites, but this caught us by surprise and had to buy what we could get. Its not very cute but it gets the job done. We bought the little pads they sell for it as well. They had disposable ones at petsmart as well, but I thought the denim with the softer material inside would be more comfortable for her. |
Hi, I don't have a female yorkie, but I have seen a underwear/diaper like product in a pet store. It looked as though there was only 1 pair in the package and was meant for this type of thing. I didn't catch the brand of the product, but it was labelled in large font: "For When Your B*tch Is In Heat". As immature as it sounds, I only noticed the product because of the label! But I sincerely hope it helps you out b/c it sounds like the baby diaper can be pretty odd fitting on your fur baby! Good luck to you! |
