Royal Canin blues We've been feeding LouisBear Royal Canin since we brought him home, actually that's what he ate before we brought him home. Now, over a year later he just won't eat his food. We've tried many things such as mixing cottage cheese, or puting a little bit of water in his food and putting it in the microwave for a few seconds, mixing in his favorite treat and taking his food away if he doesnt eat it after 20 minutes after served. I hate this! Now that I think about it... he's always had this problem. His vet thinks Royal Canin is great and Louis looks great and hasn't had any health issues (thank God) Any suggestions/advice on this? Anyone ever gone through this and changed approaches? Have I just messed things up? |
Max would not eat any kibble until I tried Parmesan cheese sprinkled in it. It also took me over a year to find something to entice him. Maybe he's Italian and I just didn't realize it! Good luck. It's very aggravating. |

I would also check and make sure that no one in your household is feeding your dog table scraps.. That will make them a picky eater really fast. |

Dog food can go bad so maybe check to make sure it isn't stale!! Also RC is high in protein -- maybe his little liver is telling him he cannot tolerate it anymore. |

What does the bag say that the protein content is? |
Hope you find something he likes and is good for him. I'd talk to the vet, and see if he has any suggestions. |

I feed Crystal 'Solid Gold' and love it. I also like Innova, Merrick and Wellness pretty much in that order. I'm quite sure they are all human grade. |
I have the same problem with my yorkie Quote:

Rylie also eats RC.. and she also is just as picky… she will eat, but only when she’s good and ready. And because she doesn’t eat very much I free feed her so she always has something. Recently I went to a baseball game and it was dog day (I like in Toronto and the Blue Jays have a dog day…very cute) anyway they had free samples of this product called Benny Bully’s not sure if its just a Canadian product, anyway it is an all natural product made from real 100% liver. They have a liver powder that you can sprinkler on the food and it really has worked, she eats her food… granted still not all but she eats. Maybe something like that might help. I’ve also contemplated changing her food, but her coat is so nice, and teeth are great and no health problems either.. so for now she’s still on RC. This is the link for the product: Also she can not resist the liver chops either... and again 100% natural. http://www.bennybullys.com/products.php |
I don't think 28% is too high unless there is a liver problem. |
