Cont' - Earrings... Important Info I've been reading the post about (Crazy.... Earrings). I noticed there were so many different feelings about it and as we all now - to each his own... However, I just thought it important to share what I just found. For those of you who were "considering" I have found a great substitute that will make everyone happy! I came across a site www.thegildedpaw.com. If you look under Dog Accesories they have whats called MAGNETIC DOG EARRINGS! This is no harm to your pup and they arent that expensive. With all honesty, as one whom would have considered - I think this is 100% a better solution that EVERYONE can be happy with.... |
That's a lot better then piercing the ear, as long as it doesn't come off, and they eat them.:D |

I wouldn't say those or any better. I would think if they came off, the dog could eat them and they could then reconnect into their stomach. I think that has had to children before with toys that had magnets on them. |
those are great! good job finding an alternative to actual piercing. hopefully some will use these instead of getting them pierced. |

i think the actual piercing would be better than this its the thought that counts tho! |

I think that's a much better idea. My dog wouldn't eat a magnetic earring...and even if she did it would easily pass through. Not really a hazard there |

Haven't read the other post but....... One of the recalls on the toys from China had something to do with small magnets that could come off the toys and if ingested they could reconnect in the intestines and cause serious damage. |
Sam saw this post and he was trying to tell me what a great alternative this was .... As I said in the other post.... I stand firm! NO EARRINGS, MR. Sam while you live under this roof!!!!! He is now pouting in the corner..... Geesh Im such a mean mom. |
I disagree that this is a safe alternative. You cannot be for sure that your dog would not get this off and NOT eat it. It could be dangerous for an animal just as it would be for a child! Think of all the other things you hear of dogs getting a hold of that you wouldn't think they would try to eat. Last year 4.4 million Magnetic toy's got recalled due to one child's death and several others getting intestinal injuries that led to surgeries. The magnetic piece was an 1/8th of an inch in diameter. The magnetic piece re attached after being swallowed and caused perforations, blockage and infections, this can be fatal! |
