Concerned about pet toys made in China? My family thinks I am getting paranoid, and I might be.. Please give me your opinion. With all of the toy recalls for toys made in China, shouldn't we question pet toys made in China? I'm sure lead could hurt our dogs, couldn't it? We have a cheap squeaky soccer ball that Gizmo has worn the outside color almost completely off of. The ball is almost always in his mouth. Isn't this something we should be questioning? |
I was thinking the same thing also, such as dog bowls they eat out of and such. |
My feelings exactly. I don't know what to do either. I have been taking everything else so far lately. All food must have US ingredients, no animal chews in case they are contaminated... Since I'm being so paranoid about everything I am trying to relax about the toys......HA:rolleyes: I am comfortable with her stuffed animal toys but I am questioning her squeaky balls. Balls are her favorite. One of them is for sure made in China but it is her favorite. It is all so frustrating.   :( :( :(   |

Does anyone know where to find a squeaky soccer ball that is not made in China? |
Anymore, I'm worried about all Chinese imports.:( The ceramic dog bowls could contain lead in the paint used, I wouldn't be a bit surprised! 80% of the toys sold in the US are manufactured in China. Stands to reason, that would include dog toys. |
True, true! I would be careful even with toys. I saw a small squeaky soccer ball today at Big Lots, but I don't know if it was made in China or not. I didn't look that close. I did buy the $1 mini loofah dogs and they are made in China, but hopefully they will be okay....? |

I think I might have to switch him to the plush soccer ball, but he really likes the latex or vinyl ones. I'm doing an internet search now for a soccer ball, but I'm finding that hardly anyone lists where the toys are made anymore. :( |

Yes, someone posted about it the other day. They are only $1! But keep in mind this is the mini (6 inch) squeaky ones. They are cute and fun, but they don't make the sound of the bigger ones. |
I am concerned about everything that comes from China |

Judy, you're not paranoid. And if you are, at least we all are paranoid too. |
I am also worried... but where can we buy toys NOT made in China. I went yesterday to Pet Smart and most of the toys are made there. The other day my husband bought some squeaky little toys from Pet Supermarket also had the made in China logo and I threw them away. Let me tell you none of my dogs wanted them. They had a strong smell. If anyone has any suggestions. Fill me in, please. Thanks. Ines |
Since this subject has come up, I've done some research. Below is a link for a manufacturer that produces toys made in the US. Most were kid toys that I saw, but there was a rubber ball. The other link is to a "Green" site and lists several toy mfgrs. in the USA. http://www.usmadetoys.com/ http://www.thedailygreen.com/2007/08...e-in-usa/5291/ |
