2 in a crate? I am now so in love with my 5 month old Ollie that i want a little girl too. We have limited space so my question is if i was to get another can they both be kept in the same crate when we are away? Or would they each need there own? |
They could be kept in the same if its roomy enough for both of them |
I woulden't, because if they have a fight while you are out then they cannot get away from eachother. |
A CRATE??!! Our yorkies roam free ....they enjoy their freedom ??!! |
i recently started putting 2 of my boys together in a VERY large crate i picked very carefully which ones to put together they are fine i wouldnt leave a older dog with a puppy or even to puppies together he may hurt her ........... mabee when there older |

yes some people use crates (cages) its a safer way then letting them roam free some people dogs chew things pee on things or just cant or shouldnt be alone i think every puppy should be crated unless being watched |
5 months is a bit young to have free roam of a home ... my little one chewed a box of tissues while I was gone for 20 minutes .... he is older now, so he has earned privileges ... he has grown up and shown responsibility (hahahaha) --- now he just sits around and chills .... but he is more than a year!!! |
My 7 year old chihuahua was never in a crate but has a bed in our laundry room and we shut the door because he likes to lift his leg on everything when we are away. I had to crate Ollie because he was so tiny and i was afraid he would get hurt. He loves his crate and we leave the door open while we are home and he goes in there to nap all by himself. So THANKS i guess if i want another i will have to make room for another crate--- and get rid of my husband?? |

Now your an official member of YT. Husbands go, yorkies stay. LOL I know you love Ollie, but are you sure you want another one right away. They can be addictive. |
Ok here is the thing.... i have 5 sons (a 19 yr. old and 13 yr. old still at home). 7 years ago my husband surprised me with a chihuahua - a male!! I inheritated my baby Ollie (male!!) from my son who had bought him for his ungrateful ex girlfriend. although i LOVE all my boys --- i feel a strong need for a little girl!!! Plus i must admit i am feeling addicted!! |
I bought a crate that has a divider in it and when I knew they would be ok I take the divider out. But, you can leave them in the same crate if it is large enough and the two do not fight much. |
Have you ever considered an x-pen. That would give them more room to play and poop? |
I keep little Conner is a very large cage when I am not home. This was because he chewed everything (including moldings, cupboards, vanities). Now that he doesn't chew as much, he likes the security of the cage when we aren't home. Mine is big enough for 2 (if I ever get a little girl). First, I will keep the puppy in a playpen, as I did Conner until she is trained to go outside. Conner does not use pads - he goes outside. If you are training Ollie to go outside, you would not want to put pads in his cage. |
My furbabies roam free as well...They don't chew on things they're not supposed to and they are totally potty trained. Everyone knows their furbabies best...You just have to decide whether you think your dogs could be trusted. My dogs don't fight or anything like that so I don't have to worry about it. To answer your question, if you think it will be a problem, you should probably get two or get a larger one with a divider. Instead of a crate, you could use an x-pen or a baby gate to keep them confined to a certain area if you want. Good luck! |
