Teacup or not Hello sorry to bother you all, but my breeder i got Tino from said hes a teacup yorkie but from the photos what would you say XX |

Hi Michelle :) Tino is absolutely adorable!! Breeders that use the term teacup are usually just in it for the money. Any breeder who knows the yorkie standard would not call their yorkies teacups...There is no such thing as a teacup yorkie...AKC only recognizes one type of yorkie and that is a toy yorkie. Yes, some are smaller and some are larger but they are all classified as toy yorkies. I know yorkies who are only 2 lbs adult weight and some that are 25 lbs at adult weight. You can go to www.ytca.org and read what they have to say about teacups. Your Tino is beautiful!! |

Thank you for you for saying he is cute, i know he is and wouldnt change him for the world, just hope hes going to be a bit small as i have a pace maker and wont be able to pick him up. xxx |
In order to estimate his size at adult, how old is he and how much does he weigh right now? It's hard to tell from just pictures :) Also, did you see his parents? |

Zoey weighed 2 lbs at 8 weeks 2lbs 3 oz at 12 weeks 3lbs at 16 weeks 4lbs at 6 Months She is holding at 4lbs. (Goes up or down 2 oz.) Hope this helps you estimate. |

They say to double the weight at 12 weeks...But again, this is just an estimate, could be smaller, could be bigger. It seems like your baby might level at around 6 lbs?? That's pretty small :) |
Yes, 6 lbs is a very tiny dog. I don't think it would be a problem for you to pick him up, will it? |

Since there is no such thing as a teacup yorkie, there is no way he can be one. The yorkies standard is for up to 7 pounds. They are in the TOY group. However there are larger ones, they are still toys, just not breed standard. |
