Ok...so I know that this is a little off-season. But I'm in the market for a new winter coat for Sydney. I'm looking now thinking I can get it on sale. I've seen a milliion cute ones online. But what I can't tell is how warm they are. Does anybody have any recomendations of what they've gotten that is cute and very warm?

I like the look of this one from Little Mimi...but once again I can't tell how warm it is.

Winter snow suit
 
:aimeeyork I bought Riley a winter snow suit last fall from K9 Topcoat.com. They are expensive, but they are very warm and water proof. The suits are lined with artic fleese. Check them out. We live in Michigan and it gets very cold and snowy. Hope you like them.

I was just about to tell you that I have those available! lol Then I read the end of your post :) I have one of those for Mimi and they are so warm and cuddly. My question is what kind of cold weather are we talking about? I think this is fine for 40 degrees. But if you're talking about 15 degree weather I would put a long sleeve shirt under it. I have it hanging in my closet. I cant wait for winter just to dress them up in their coats! lol If you see it cheaper anywhere else,just let me know and I'll match it! :thumbup:

Just a thought for you, If you are keeping your dog in long hair your best bet is to buy a coat that is satin lined. It doesnt matt the hair. Have fun shopping:)

they are CUSTOM made to order - all sorts of styles ...all sorts of fabrics, fit perfectly... AND is satin lined.....Here's Chanel in hers - it was a surprise for them ...but fit PERFECTLY

I WISH it was colder in Houston cause the girls look so adorable in their matching coats and hats !

You all gave me a lot of options. I'm going to go to those websites and check them out.

As far as how cold of weather...I live in the snow belt...so last winter we had it as low as 15 below 0. However, I definately won't take her out for a walk if it is that cold. I'd say I won't walk her if it is any lower than the 20's...and that all depends on how she reacts to it as well.

I decided that we are going to have to keep up on our daily walks b/c she gained weight during her week of inactivity after I got her spayed. I don't want her to get chubby...but I hate to deny her food when she is hungry. So as long as we can keep exercising...she should be fine.

I'll look into the satin-lined kind. I don't keep her fur as long and Cheri and Chanel's...but not a buzz cut either. She gets mats just from her tee-shirts...so I can see how a coat will really do it.

To help with matts - have you tried the Ice on Ice ? it REALLY helped my girls with tangles from clothes - I spray it under their arms just like deoderant :D

by the way. They don't have those adorable red coats anymore. I just went to their site. They have the same in gray...but it just isn't as cute as the red. :(

Hi Sydneys mom, That is my site and the red coats were christmas coats, you don't want those to keep your baby warm, it is velvet.They are only available at christmas:) Villette lives in a warm climate.
I do make the same coat in a red cashmere, i just wanted to let you know:) the gray is a wool as well. Not a sales pitch, due to the fabrics i use most of my coats are pretty pricey.

If it is robin that has the site Spoiled Yorkie I know where i can find her LOL. I was going to get a couple of shirts from her anyway so I will tell her you were looking for her. I dont know if she is a member here or not. But I am sure she has an email on her site doesnt she?

ps. my fiance just vetoed the little mimi coat. It seems that he refuses to walk a dog who is wearing pink! LOL! :p

Hey guys. I live in a warm climate too & most of my clothes that I sell are for fun dress up (althought they will keep dog a little warm) but when it comes to keeping my dogs really warm when we get that once a year snow fall I put those 4-legged fleece outfits on them and then one of my coats over it. Gotta Layer it up! ChloeandJ makes the fourlegged fleece coats. I think it really helps to keep a dog warm when all there legs are covered.

I've looked at those...unfortunately Syd hates anything around her back legs. We have one (really cute) sweater that has the back leg loops...and she can't stand it. I had to cut off the loops so that she could wear it without. :rolleyes:

Oh- My dog hates them too. Its pretty funny to watch them walk. We got chloe after winter so I dont know how she will react but my CHihauhua Tinkerbell just shakes so bad in the cold. SO I make her wear them when she goes outside. If you buy a coat, you should get one that is lined in fleece or sherpa- something that will make the coat a little bulkier for warmth.

Yes it takes them time to get used to those back legs! One of my maltese would just sit there with it on for a long time. It took about 3 times of just leaving it on her for a while for her to come around. Now they all wear them with no problem! My girls are very warm when I take their coat off.

Here is Simon in his first winter coat and scarf. Now he has a corduroy tan coat with fur lining! Hallie has a pink fleece but I don't have pictures (yet)!
