Is my yorkie's thin hair normal? Take a look at my pictures please. I'm a proud new yorkie owner with little knowledge about this type of breed. My yorkie's name is Sadie and she is a blue and gold puppy. I never really knew what that meant until after I bought her. I have been concerned for over a month about how thin her hair is along her back and legs. I posted some pictures in my gallery to let other users see her thin hair. I guess the question I am asking is has anyone seen a yorkie with thin hair like mine? I took her to the vet and they have done numerous tests on her and everything turn out normal. I figured that having so many yorkie owners on a website like this that someone might have a little more input on a dog like mine. I'm fairly new with this site so I'm pretty sure you can go into my gallery and see her pictures. Please tell me what you think about her hair and if there are any suggestions they would be greatly appreciated. -Brittney |
No pic?? |
the picture didnt show up ? try again :D |
Brittney, Sadie is adorable and her coloring is very pretty. I think she looks just fine. She will loose her puppy coat and her adult coat will come in possibley fuller. I think she has a silky coat which may be why you think her hair is thin. IMO . Buddy has a very silky coat also and his hair is not thick on the legs. Congratulations and enjoy your puppy. |
Yorkie puppies are black and tan or gold. Puppies born blue have a genetic defect. Search blue born pups on here and you will get alot of info on them. Hair and skin problems go along with the disorder. I would really like to see a picture |
I'm no expert but I saw one of your picture and she is a cutie. My Momiji has thin hair I think but it doesn't bother me. I figure it is easier to brush her!! :D Your Sadie is still young, so I think her hair will change over time!! Congratulation on your yorkie baby!!! |

Look in the photo gallery. She does'nt look blue born I don't think. She looks healthy with a silky coat but thin. What do you think? |
Where are you all looking at pics? I do see one on her profile, but can't see any others??? Maybe I don't know what I am doing - which is very possible  |
Brittney, I looked at your pics and I agree with Carol. Your pup looks gorgeous and as time goes on the hair will thicken. It will be a gradual change over a long period of time. Good luck! Welcome to YT.:) |

 I never noticed the photo gallery up there.....cool Anyway, I think she's adorable. And there are many yorkies with that type of hair...I think. What a cutie! now I must figure out how to get pics of jeanie up there in the photo gallery........ |
I just saw her picture in the gallery and she looks black and tan to me but I am no expert on blue bornes. Her coat could be thin for many reasons. My Jewels when she was 3 months old lost alot of hair on her back and they checked her for mites and she didnt have them anyway her hair grew back in and was fine so you never know |
I think she is beautiful. :) |
2 Attachment(s) My sparkey has fluff as opposed to hair!! its really thin he looks so funny when we wash him becuase he almost disappears!! His hair hardly grows at all, when the wind catches him all you can see is a furball becuase every hair on him lifts!!! |
