Can dogs get poison ivy? I have a raging case of poison ivy and am wonder if dogs can get it too? I am trying to be very careful with my contact with my boys after I have touched the areas I am infected with but I am still not 100% sure where I picked up from. I think it was from my husbands garden which the dogs have access too and have since mowed everything down in that area. I just dont want my babies catching it from me! Anyone know if dogs can get poison ivy? |
I googled and found this where they say they can http://vetmedicine.about.com/b/a/176372.htm |
Thanks, I need to be super carful with my babies. I have already spent 140.00 on trying to treat myself, last thing I need is them sufering with it and a big vet bill since I have 3 Yorkies! |
It is not unusual for people to get poison ivy from their dogs or cats. They may or may not be susceptible to it or showing symptoms, but they can have the oils on their coats from being outside in it and then they rub against us or we put them, etc. and we get it. Hope you are able to get it under control soon! That can be very miserable! |
I've read here on YT that dogs wont have/experience the symptoms humans do from poison ivy. However, humans can catch poison ivy from their pets if they (pets) have been grazed or touched by poison ivy. They can simply "transfer" it to you. Be careful! :) |
Poison Ivy !! My baby has given it to me more than once. He shows no signs but be careful where they go to pee & poop. They can transfer it without you knowing.:animal-pa |
