you can get nutrical at pretty much any pet place (petsmart, pet supplies plus, things like that) its really nice thing to have on hand just in case they get shaky or lethargic. it perks my boy right up!

I will never recommend the Heartz products . One of my new owner's pup died after using one .

I've not dealt with liver problems in my dogs but I've had dogs have bad reaction to Science Diet products.. I don't know what type of food your feeding do to the liver problem but protein is essential for energy..They run out of gas fast on low protein.. Poor eating is scary on a small dog and if they aren't bouncing around it's not good either... I feed pet tabs to my pg females but it would be good for poor eaters as well.. I get them though Puritan Pride the ones with liver.. They adore them.. Dose your dog have bad breath.. sign of teeth problems...

He could have MVD...What were the results of his bile acid test, if I may ask? Many times when they have liver issues, but it's not a liver shunt, it ends up being MVD, but the only way to know FOR SURE is to do a liver biopsy, which you probably don't want to put him through. What food are you feeding him? Please join the liver shunt and mvd group on yahoo groups so you can get more info as to what he might possibly have. You can look through the extensive amount of info in the FILES section and send out an email asking for advice. You have to be careful what kind of vitamins and products you use on him if he has high bile acid results...They will be able to help you with those questions on there....

There are low protein foods that are okay for liver compromised dogs...They should be getting around 18%-20% protein if they are NOT having any kinds of symptoms...Lower if they are...My liver compromised yorkie is on low protein, and he doesn't have any problems at all. I homecook for him and give him certain supplements and he has a lot of energy. With liver compromised dogs, the TYPE of protein is extremely important. They cannot have any type of red meat including venison, beef, or lamb because they produce the most ammonia and damage the liver by overworking it unnecessarily...Any products with organ meats like LIVER are way too high in purines for liver compromised dogs. It is very harmful to them.

When looking at vitamins and supplements, make sure that there is no yeast or yeast product because it is very high in purines...Not good for dogs that are having liver issues...

just letting you know that max is know eating its kinda funny he doesnt want to eat from his food dish he wants to play with it ir if you put it it his basket of toys and he finds them he will eat them oh well what ever makes him want to eat :animal-pa
