Little scabbies could be big problem?!? Last night I was petting Beau and found that he has a couple of scab looking things on his back. It seemed to really bother him when I touched it. I squeezed it and it seemed to get larger and larger then a little round pod looking thing came out of his skin!! He has a couple of these little scabs on his skin...what should I do?!? I want to bring him to the vet but I would feel dumb if they are just scabs from bug bites or something. I over worry about EVERYTHING that has to do with my fur-baby. Also I was wondering if maybe this has to do with his age? My last little doggy got sick and died around 10 so I'm worried he might be getting to the point where he's gonna start going down hill fast. Has anyone else has this problem? HELP HELP HELP!!! |
I have no idea what they are but they don't sound normal. I would atleast call your vet and check with them. |
If your not sure what they are bring him to the vet. No reason to feel dumb. If there are only a few do the samething with the others that you did with the first. Put neosporiun on them and see if they come back. Buddy had something like that behind his ear once and I squeezed it and something white came out. I dried it with a tissue and applied the neosporiun to it and it never came back. Have no idea what it was. Maybe a pimple of some sort like humans get, not sure. |
I agree with Archie...what you pay the vet 45$ for a 15 minutes visit....you are paying good money for them to help you! Dont feel dumb, your just a loving mom! |
thanks for the help! I'll call the vet later today. I just had to make sure it wasn't something common before I FREAKED out...which I currently am!!! Thanks though! I'll let everyone know what the vet says. |
does he itch himself in that spot? I did a bit of research and they could be called pustules. Some underlying causes of these are: 1. Ringworm 2. Staph hypersensitivity (where he is allergic to the staph bacteria that most dogs carry on their skin - this is RARE though) 3. Skin reaction to shampoo - did you change his shampoo recently? 4. bacterial infection most things come back to he either has a bacterial infection that needs antibiotics or an allergy of some kind. Id take him to the vet also. Just in case! He may be very uncomfortable! Poor little guy!! |

He has been itching his feet lately, not really one particular spot. I just hope that it isn't life threatening. |
Schnauzer bumps? Sounds like something my Schnauzer has. Pus does not come out, but a semi hard little "pod" "Schnauzer bumps" or schnauzer comedone syndrome, is a condition affecting schnauzers that produces pus filled bumps which are most often located on the Back of the dog. It is an inherited condition present throughout the dog's life and there is no cure. However, there are some things that have provided relief to dogs with this problem. 1. Use a dandruff shampoo, such as Selsun Blue, or one called SeboRx, available from your vet. 2. Keep your dog in a stripped coat or clipped very short. 3. Use vitamin E daily. 4. Bathe dog on a regular basis. 5. If allergy related, try changing food. Try avoiding foods containing "corn". |
I don't know what it might be but...I hope the vet will get you something to make your little boy feel better...:( |
No ideas or opinions, just want you to know I hope your Beau is okay...let us know what the vet thinks about it. |
