ChiYorkie | 08-29-2007 10:50 PM | Another ? about crating I've posted questions about crating my puppy before, so here we go again. Lately, I have been working nights (midnight-6am). When I leave to go to work, Watson is passed out sleeping...so I put him in his crate before I leave. He might whine a little for a minute or two but he passes right back out. Tonight, before I left, I was cleaning my place and Watson was up and wide awake (ha, getting in my way). So when I left I put him in his crate and he wasn't ready to go to sleep yet. If you were at my place you would've thought someone was being tortured in my bedroom. He was crying and squealing so loud. I felt so bad! At the time I just thought, well I have to leave him in there to teach him that his crate is "his home". But now I'm at work and I'm thinking about him not wanting to be in there. Because of this huge reaction by him, do you think, he thinks he was being punished for some reason? Since he was acting like this, should have I let him out and just kept him in his playpen tonight? I thought it was good for me to work nights for now, because I don't hear all the whining at night, and he can get used to being in there. Well any thoughts about this would be great!! |
