Tucker the baldy! Ok, as some of you know - Tucker had an abcess on his head about 2 weeks ago that got infected and was bleeding and oozing, etc. Anyway, he was on antibiotics and everything has cleared up - EXCEPT, the vet had to shave his head and it's not growing back! The scab fell off this weekend and it's all healed up, but the bald spot is about the size of a quarter (which is pretty big on his little head!). There is no stubble or anything - do you think it will ever grow back?! Do I have to give him a "comb-over"?! He's starting to look just like my father! Bald with a beard, it's freaking me out! |
Yes , the hair will grow back . |

That's good news!! |
What caused the abscess? Oscar recently went through something like that only it was not abscessed. I accidentally clipped the skin into the tiny jaw clip I was using to hold his hair up out of his eyes. When I realized what was happening, there were tiny sores on his head and the hair was falling out. I took him to the vet that day and he shaved his head about the size of a quarter and started him on Bactoderm ointment. The sores got well and his hair is coming back in where the sores were but here is the funny part...the hair up there was silver before the incident and it is coming back in red like the hair around his mouth! The only area that did not grow back is where the teeth of the clip were. The skin died in that area and my vet said that the hair would not grow back. I felt like the worst momma ever when that happened but he never acted like it bothered him. My vet wondered why he did not try to pull it out or something. I clipped it on tender skin in the bend of my arm and it was not really uncomfortable. There was just enough pressure to cut off the flow of blood to the skin on his head and over time, the skin died. Good luck with your baby...I am sure it will grow back, just don't be surprised if it is a different color! |

Wow - a red streak would be interesting!!! The vets weren't sure what caused the abscess. At first we had just thought that he had bumped his head, but then when it started bleeding we took him to the vet. Luckily, it all cleared up, but now the bald spot is so pronounced! Don't feel like a bad momma!! You thought you were doing the right thing - keeping the hair out of his eyes. It makes sense to me!! Poor Oscar! Well, at least he's ok!! And, at least he's a boy! A girl would be devestated by a bald spot!! LOL |

Well as soon as I realized what was happening, we went and got a great haircut and don't have to deal with those dreaded top knot issues anymore! We need to go get another one today! |
I'm so glad he is healing. While you are waiting for the hair to grow in, there are some really cute hats at Petsmart!!!!!! |

Ha!! Sold out by your own daughter! LOL. Even if they are stupid - I guess it's still better than a bald head! |
