I would take someone with you and don't take any money you can always pop over to the store and use the ATM if you decide you want the dog. Just use you best judgement and ask for at least a 72 hour return policy (IN WRITING) so you can get the puppy checked by your vet. Also ask to see the parents and look at the living arrangement ask to see the papers of both the sire and dam as well as the puppies so you can compare. I really think the google her name and kennel name is a great suggestion i would do that tonight and also check with the BBB for her name and kennel name as well. Good luck i trueley hope this is a great thing and we get to see your new baby soon!

I did google her name and kennel, and nothing out of the ordinary came up. Her health guarantee does extend 72 hours.

How many other people have looked at those puppies and didn't want them? She must have been advertising for awhile if she has been trying to find them a home. Something still sounds fishy, and I would definitely take someone with me. You know the old saying "better to be safe, than sorry"

Yes, I have wondered, too, why no one has taken these two puppies.

I am taking my mother-in-law with me.

I keep hearing that most breeders don't let their puppies go until they are 12 weeks old, but I have yet to find a breeder who does this, and I have contacted about 20 from all over.

age to let puppies go depends on where you live. I am in kentucky and see yorkies in the paper every day at six weeks and "ready to go". Mine don't go, tho, until 10-12 weeks.

The thing is, are you taliking to quality, AKC breeders that know its best to keep a yorkie puppy with its mother and siblings until its 10-12 weeks old...or are you talking to back yard breeders? NO judgement or criticism toward you is intended AT ALL. I'm just wondering because I too have always heard that good breeders keep their puppies until 10-12 weeks...

I honestly don't know enough about it personally to know the answer. But if I get one of these puppies tomorrow, he will be beyond 12 weeks.

This is true, it will be beyond 12 weeks. That is a good thing! However, my point in my earlier post was, how long has she been advertising them? Since they were 6 or 8 weeks old and no takers? I wish you the best of luck, and hope that you will be finding all the puppies that are there in good shape and well taken care of. Good for you, taking someone with you!! Best of luck to you.....keep us posted!!! I'll be thinking of you tomorrow!!

That's interesting:rolleyes: . You asked for advices about breeders. You have received many good answers, and most of them show that your breeder is not best choice. In my personal opinion, according to all mentioned details - bad breeder (different breeds, selling young puppies, ridiculous stories about age/price). Even "72 hours" is RIDICOLOUS. TYPICAL faked paper for naive customers;) .
Good breeders give at least 1 year guarantee. The best - lifetime guarantee:) .

But it seems like you have made your choice, and ready to buy from this particular breeder because she pretends to be a good breeder ONLY by asking some questions....

Just wondering: why people ask advices, receive answers, and still don't pay attention to most important details? if someone told me she is back yard breeder/puppy miller, I would run immediately...

Sorry, I just don't understand why.... why people like to support them....:(

I honestly think that you should go and check it out with your own eyes and ears. You are going to be the one making a purchase from this breeder or any other breeder for that matter. You need to feel comfortable and happy with 'any' purchase of a Yorkie you make. You will be the Mother and Caretaker, so YOU need to feel comfortable with what ever decision you make.

Honestly, $100 is a great deal, and I would at least want to check it out. Of course if it all felt right to me than I would be taking the 2 of them home. I just feel everyone deserves to have a friend and playmate.

Also, I would ask for a 'longer' period of time for the guarantee. You might want to check out what the laws are for your state, they may very well be for 1 year.

Anyway, best of luck and let us know what happens ;)

TammyJM 08-29-2007 06:26 AM

My concern is, what if this "great deal" ends up costing you thousands because of future health problems....especially if you buy both puppies! I'm not saying that it's not worth checking into but quite honestly,if she is a puppy broker or has a puppy mill,I would NEVER EVER buy anything from her! I do hope that things work for you and that she is not a "miller" and that her puppies are healthy and happy.

I think its worth checking out, you have a list of good questions to ask her and you know what the possible red flags are in the situation.

I know you said you googled her and didn't find anything alarming about her but there is this website I think its like petshoppuppies.com or something like that, where you can find the USDA list of Breeders and Brokers I would make sure she's not on one of those lists, because I think that's a huge red-flag that its a puppymiller.

Did you contact any of her references?

It would be very naive to believe a breeder who give a lifetime guarantee on a puppy .

Yorkiedaze 08-29-2007 09:13 AM

Is it too late for you to call her Vet. for refrences?

YorkieRose 08-29-2007 09:20 AM

prices

We have threads all the time abotu people payign thousands of dollars for a Yorkie who turns out to be genetically unsound and they so called "reputable" breeder does nothing...I would go with an open mind...and check them out.

Personally, I would not buy a puppy from the first one..Vet/breeder..anything goes wrong and it will surely be your fault for doing or not doing something...I have actual experince in this area..
