Please help!!! Hi Everyone, I have a 2 yr old yorkie hes going to be 3 in Nov. We are having a problem with him and I was wondering if anyone else has the same problem. He sleeps with us at the foot of the bed, hes been really good up until about 6 months ago, but now he bites us when ever we move its gotten to the point we cant even lay straight without him attacking us, it looks like he is sleeping when he does this. We got him a little bed he refuses to sleep in it so we tried creating him, that didnt work he cry's all night we cant sleep. I dont know that to do anymore he has taken over our bed. PLEASE HELP |
Sounds like you are losing your dominance. I would first off get him out of your bed. If you need to crate him put him in another room so he doesn't disturb your sleep. He has to know that you are alpha. There are many ways to reestablish that like making sure you go through doors or small openings first, making him sit or do something before you feed him, etc. I would suggest you do a search on "alpha". I have to go to work now, but you should find a lot of info here. |
agree ;) I agree your yorkie thinks the bed is their's ...he is just letting you sleep in it...I have one that does that...she is made to get down when she growls at the legs under the blankets. She usually winds up just sleeping on the rug next to the bed.... My little male solved the problem and just sleeps next to the pillow so he can stay there all night... spoiled rotten.... roxanne |

I made the same mistake as you with my first yorkie. I now have two yorkies that always sleep downstairs. I know when you first have them they are so small that you want to mother them but really they are very independent and so this time I never allowed either of them upstairs. they soon settle down in their own beds and it is better for all concerned. I would add that the two i have now were purchased 2 years apart so they had to get used to being on their own. The best thing you can do is start again by making their bed where you want it to be and not allowing them on your bed. They do soon get used to the idea. Best of luck |
Try putting the crate in another room where you can't hear him crying. Put something of yours in his crate so he can smell you. It just takes time, but if you give in he'll never learn to be crate trained. |
