Horrific cut at the groomers!!!!! I recently took my babies to the groomers for a hair cut. I told the groomer that I was letting their "nose" hair grow out so that it would hang nicely down the sides of their faces, and I wanted their top hair to grow out so I could put clips and rubberbands in it. I told her to give them "yorkie" ears and to cut Bella's a little shorter b/c her ears are having a hard time comming up. (Her coat is sooooo thick... beautiful, but thick). :animal-sm Anyway when I picked them up, both of their noses were shaved really close, and Charlie has a flat top. Neither one of their ears were trimmed, and I had to ask her to shave both of their bottoms before I left, b/c she didn't even trim the hair around their bums. :shocked7q I just about died. I am so devistated, now I have to wait for all of their hair to grow back out. Charlie is 5 1/2 months old, so his hair was just getting long enough to pull up. GRRRRR Needless to say, I will never go back to her!! So I was looking for some pictures of good cuts to take with me the next time that I go, so I can show them what I want. I looked online, but most of the pictures are puppies or show dogs. Does anyone know where I could get a good picture to take to the groomers? I have also looked for a groomer that specializes in Yorkies, but no luck. (I live in Reno, NV). Any help would be greatly appreciated. |

I am so sorry to hear that! ALso that after you get that kind of service you have to also paaaayyyy for it. Pebbles is going for the first time that specialize in Yorkies. Let's see what happens. Sorry but I do not have any ideas where you can look for a picture. |

aw i'm sorry. i can imagine how frustrating that would be. i've been trying to grow stewie's coat and i would be devastated, too. |

I know how you feel. We once had a mobile groomer come to our house because Riley didn't like being in a cage at the regular groomer. She did such a bad job! Riley looked absolutely horrendous. We will NEVER call her again. We want Riley's and TJ's hair to grow out so we are going to start trimming it on our own. But don't feel bad, it's just hair, it will grow up. I'm sorry about you bad experience. |

That's such a shame - it happens ALOT though - I found writing down directions really helps and don't ever go to a new groomer without that - it still doesn't guarantee a good cut - Most of the yorkies here aren't showdogs - you should be able to go to the gallery and find good pictures - there's lots of cute yorkies here...or search the net...The hair will take about 2-3 months to grow back approx. I have some closeups I just took of my girls and you can see the ears REALLY well - they're in My Yorkie Section ...Cheri and Chanel have BOTH had really bad grooming cuts so I do them myself now but I follow what the groomers originally cut.... Also - a very cute site is www.MyLittleMia.com - she has an adorable cut |

 Well.....the good news is that hair does grow... I'm sorry to hear about such a mess.....if I were you I'd just be fuming!!!! Did you have to pay full price for such a botched job? I'm taking Sully in to get groomed for the 1st time this week...and I'm really nervous! |

Grooming Boy, can I relate, I went through 4 groomers before finding one that truly understood what I wanted. I actually went to one that listed, by type of dog, the amount of the cut. That was one of the worst, so you just can't tell. Before I even got my first yorkie, I bought a book, Your Yorkshire Terrier's Life, which has been a tremendous help to me as a new yorkie owner. After having so much trouble, I took the book with me and showed the groomers pictures, gave my cell number and told them to never do anything different unless they called me. I related my past experiences and it worked. When they did such a good job, I made sure I tipped Miss Shirley a lot and then I did the same thing with Lacey's groomer, Miss Mary. I let them know verbally and in a tangible way that I appreciate what they do. It's money well spent. |

I know how you feel  You spend some time telling them how you want it done :animal-sm I think it goes in one ear & out the next, they just dont listen  Minnie came back as a Chiuawhawa(sp)...They gave me the wrong dog :yeahthat: Since then i get my son to do it,he does a lovely job & spends a good 3 hrs on Minnie :) |

Aww! I'm so scared to take Fred to the groomers. We took my aunt's maltese Marshmellow to the groomers on Friday at PetsMart and I told her to shave him, trim his ears, his face area and trim is tail down. I guess they take it on themselves to not listen and do what they like. When I picked him up, he didn't have his tail trimmed because she liked it "fluffy", his face wasn't even TOUCHED because she liked it "longer than the body", and his ears were still the exact same way! :thumbdown I was like "Come on, lady! I didn't pay 40 dollars for NO reason!". Well, of course I didn't say that but I wish I could have. I just had to ask her to redo his tail and trim his face. |

That's horrible. I hope that you didn't have to pay for that! I would have been FURIOUS!!!   |

Why can't groomers listen!?! I have not ever found a groomer I felt did what I asked. I'm doing it myself now. |

Maggie is getting SOOOOOOOOO Close to a grooming visit. I keep reading horror stories, and it makes be somewhat skittish. I wouldn't mind trying it myself, but she is such a wiggle worm. Also, I don't do nails, or ear plucking. So, I have some serious questions to ask myself. First thing, I will look for is the special grooming picture to take with me. |

Just one more groomer horror story to add in as a warning. One of my adoptive puppy parents told me that they had lost their previous yorkie when the groomer put it in the auto dry crate after bathing and baked him. They were extremely distraught (me too, just hearing about it) and sued the groomer, but were told they would only recieve replacement value on the dog. Money was not their concern, but they felt there should be some sort of fine imposed for such negligence and notification of the danger for any future customers. I believe they are lobbying for more regulations as there seems to be very little recourse for pet owners in this situation. |

Oh no sylvan, that's so sad...How could that groomer be so careless as to bake a dog in the auto dry crate?!?! |

Boy, do I know about dropping off your dog and picking it up and it looks like a completely different dog  . That happened to Josie. I was really upset, I couldn't even look at her. Now she's beautiful all over again. :D |

It was really heartbreaking to hear their story, we all did a lot of crying and though I'm sure they still miss their little guy, they now have someone new to love. I've been doing what I can to spread the word about the dangers of these dryers...the more info the better. |

Asia is at the groomers right now. I'm so scared. It's her first time. I read alot of the post on here on what to tell the groomers. My maintence man takes his yorkie to the same groomer and he looked good friday after picking him up. But I'm still nervous. |
