Introduction Hello everyone! I wanted to pop in and say how happy I am to have found this forum. I am the new owner of Bella , age 16 weeks and am going to need lots of advice to assure I am giving her everything she needs to grow strong and healthy. So, please be prepared for LOTS of questions! ;) I am traveling to Florida next month with Bella. She will be flying in the passenger section with me. I have ordered a sherpa carrier for the flight. I would love for anyone that can to give me advice on what to expect when flying with such a small dog. What do I need to make sure I bring to keep her comfy? I don't want to overlook anything. Thanks for your help. |
Welcome to YT!!! Glad you found us. I haven't flown with my babies, but I know a lot of people on here have taken there dogs on trips with them |

Welcome to YT! |
Hi and Welcome to YT!! |
Put a something that smells like you in her crate to comfort her. Also benadryl will help calm her down. WELCOME TO YT |
Welcome, Teresa, Bella, Kiwi & Daisy - you will love YT and you definitely will learn a lot...and you started out right by finding and getting a Sherpa carrier - I have one and love it for traveling - fits so nice under the seat on the plane. You have gotten good advice so far so if you have any other questions - just post. Also - love to see pics of Bella!:wavey: |
Hi and welcome! :) Have your pup use it before you get to the airport and no more food till after the flight. Put a little stuffed toy or small pillow that she can lay on. Put her favorite blankie in there and carry some treats with you. Have some nutrical handy and try not to give water till after the flight. I still took some pads with me and laid one on the bathroom floor so Kodak could pee when I went to the bathroom. I then took him to pee as soon as we got off the flight outside. If the flight is a short one, your pup should be ok, just make her comfortable. I've even heard people saying they put their sock in the carrier so the pup can smell them at all times. |
I know nothing about fling with a yorkie...so no advice from me. But a big hardy YT welcome to you and Bella...Hope you enjoy it here, I know I do!!! |
I've never flown with mine so I can't help you there...I just wanted to welcome you to YT. |
Thank You All Thanks so much for the welcomes. I knew I could count on you guys for help! I've compiled everyone's suggestions and will begin my planning. You guys are great! You have definitely made me feel more confident on being prepared for our trip. |
